Rock 104.5 is retiring

Country? Soft AC? Latin? Talk? Mainstream R&B? It might be neither. A lot of people now these days would love to hear sports on the FM dial. No matter if it's Football, Baseball, or Basketball, 104.5 would be a good fit for Sports. Jacksonville is known for The Jags, and The Florida-Georgia Game which happens to be played over at EverBank Stadium. And it has been a tradition over there in Florida's largest city.

We got Sports on FM with 1010XL/92.5 FM and with SportsRadio 930/106.9. So that need is already been filled. Cox is not going to waste money like that to try to create a third sports talker when only two stations at most is needed.

My winamp song title says "Simply Red - Holding Back The Years" so i guess somebody got teased with more clips at some point when nobody was tuned in.

I guess we are all just tired now of waiting due to the lack of new posts in the last few hours. I am thinking tomorrow is when we will see something because its May 1st and will signal the start of a new month.

They have been teasing again...

Last two songs played from the automation system as detected by the online streaming player were:
It's Too Late - Carole King
Just A Song Before I Go - Crosby, Stills & Nash

Now for two days in a row they have teased with more songs in the lines of a Lite AC format, but have not teased with anything on the other formats in the stunt.

I seriously think we are headed to having an Easy 104.5 with the imaging of such station like Miami's Easy and Tampa's Dove to be part of it.

Yeah we have known about the domain being registered.

The Flip The Switch campaign on Power 106.1 is for people making the switch from 93.3 to 106.1...nothing related to the format flip on 104.5.

Ah okay. Well they do have a horrid layout on the easy1045.com page. Didn't see that last night.

I don't know if you guys knew this but Rock 104.5 has officially retired. I know this because I have heard it over a hundred times on the stunting loop.

;D

The "hint" with the "easy" songs as a tease may be a way to throw us a curve in an effort to imply an Easy format will the new programming when in reality the new format may actually be something completely different not heard in the stunt loop.

That's what i was thinkin too mark. they could just be doing that to keep us guessing.
which means that in this case teasing for the new format would be just a curve ball.

At this point it's pure speculation. I'm inclined to believe the new format will be 1) All Wayne Newton Radio; 2) Gypsy Dance; or, 3) All Sam Kinison (uncensored) Comedy Radio.

I'm sure that during the stunting, they could play all Jacksonville Jaguars 2012 highlights.....that oughta loop about 10,000 times a day. ;)

cd

I know this probably will not happen, but what i the format is either the same or close to Rock 105? Would they really do that or would it just be cannibalizing X102.9?
