radiobum said:Why would the only Active rock station in the market want to compete with already existing CHR or sports stations? Adult Alternative would be a natural fit (well maybe I'm prejudiced since that's what I'd like to hear ) but I'm not holding my breath.
If Rock 104 drops Lex and Terry I'm guessing it'll take WNDD about a half a second to pick them up.
Active Rock (demo: young guys) is a much tougher sell than CHR (demo: young women). Once you get past the beers, bars, strip clubs & auto parts stores, no advertiser wants young guys. Young women are the shoppers--they spend the money. Young guys shop only when there is a gun to their head.
Adult Alternative would be a hit in Gainesville, but not so much in Ocala. It would be a good move for 105.3 if they get blown out of the CHR world.
L&T have been losing affiliates right and left. "Wind" is doing fine with its current lineup, without all the hassle that comes with Lex & Terry. Hard to imagine them jumping into all that baggage if there is no compelling reason. Hell, they'd pick up two or three shares anyway, if Rock 104 bails out of rock. And even if they don't, they're already getting first-place money on every M25-54 buy that comes along.
