Or a new "adult" business not far from there!onetake said:I guess it's easier to leave the tower standing & the building empty than tear it down. Could be either a good cell phone tower or perhaps someone could hang a sign for a Charlotte Ave liquor store on the tower ... not much other reason for it's usefulness.

I'll never forget that kickin voice that did that legal I.D.! I did have a copy of that I.D., being played with the intro of Cheap Trick's "Gonna Raise Hell", playing in the background.
I listened to the last hour that Rock 106 on Dec. 24, 1980 from 11 AM to 12 PM. It was so sad, the last song, was by Jim Morrison & The Doors. I don't recall the title, but it said something like "turn off the lights and close the door".
Maybe I should be Rock 1560, WMRO, Gallatin, We can't crank it up! (HA!)
Today's "Rock @ 105.9 is terrible! IT's the S.O.S!

I was surprised when they flipped (although Sudbrink had a history of detonating rock stations) and that WKDF (which ROCK 106 was ahead of in the ratings) didn't drop all of the Top 40 from the playlist and become fully Album Rock. Was there any reason that KDF was so hesitant to drop all the Top 40 from the playlist? It seems like it wasn't until 1989 that KDF completely embraced the AOR format.

Didn't they go "all Christmas" or something right before the changeover, so that no one would notice, and there would be less suspicion? Personally, I think it is despicable when a station uses Christmas as an excuse to change formats.scottwmro said:I listened to the last hour that Rock 106 on Dec. 24, 1980 from 11 AM to 12 PM.
