Rock 106 WKQB

Today is December 24th, 2009. It was 29 years ago the shortest lived, best Rock Station in Nashville died. ROCK 106, WKQB. Today's Rock @ 105.9 can't rock as hard as the good ole Rock 106 did. It's hard for me to believe Moby has settled down, no long hair, and playing country music these days!

Thanks SUDBRINK BROADCASTING OF FLORIDA, you ruin Nashville's best Rock Station. In my opinion, KDF never met up to what Rock 106 did and the ROCK ARMY.

Sorry Clear Channel, "The Rock @ 105.9 just wimps out too much for me, and there for a while, I got really tired of hearing Freebird. I was listening to Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever" last night, and just was remembering the last song by the Doors on Rock 106. The lights were turned off and the doors closed forever. Remember, they were the only station in Nashville that played Cheap Trick's "Gonna Rasie Hell"? Oh yea, we all had long hair then!

Yea, Yea, We've got "The Tower", what a joke, 105.9, another joke, Jack FM doesn't know where they are going, and KDF is all country now. At 12 noon today, 29 years ago is when "The Joy of Nashville" came and gave us rockers like Swiss Vol, Firepoint 525, and a terrible Christmas! Sudbrink took away our ROCK 106......Old Mean Farts!
Well, back to my cave, Merry Christmas everyone!

ROCK 106, WQKB NASHVILLE, CRANK IT UP!!!!!!!!!

Hey Scott, I hope you and your family had a great Christmas. Thanks for the mention. That was a sad day. I was such a huge fan of Rock 106. It was almost as if they made that station with me in mind. I know I have told this story before, but what the hell, I will tell it again. The late Hunter Harvey told me the bad news about 1 week before the change was made. I thought: Hell, I thought Rock 106 was beating WKDF? Hunter said: "We were beating them, but the big shots decided to pull the plug on album rock radio". It was a sad day indeed. Today, I load my ipod with tunes such as The Flying Burito Brothers and old Moby Grape tunes. I'll throw in a "Rattlesnake shake by Pete Green and Fleetwood Mac and think about the good old days. Makes an old Guy feel good. LOL

[/quote The new owner didn't like rock and roll so he made the switch. What a bad decision that turned out to be.

I didn't know the WKQB calls had been in Nashville. They ended up in Jackson, MS about 20 years ago and if I'm not mistaken, it's parked in Pittsburgh now.
