Rock 92 needs an afternoon show

I am a bit partial and this would never happen but I would absolutely love to do a show with Jon Mathews and Jeff Corbett. We used to have a blast on KZL and always had great chemistry on the air together.

I hope everyone in the world of radio is doing great.

;D I AM the GO Rilla!

Ode To The BIG APE

South of Jacksonville near Doctor's Lake,

east of seventeen, stood the mighty BIG APE.

Built in the fifties by a man named Brennan,

for decades and decades the hits were spinnin'.

The building had secret doorways and a swimming pool

and a fountain with copper coils to keep the transmitter cool.

The pool was covered over, it's kind of sad,

no more pretty female listeners, bikini clad.

The alumnus are scattered far and wide,

but BIG APE stories abound, some true, some lies.

The one that no one will ever forget,

is about the owner going down in his private jet.

His pretty miss pilot was attending the stick;

could the playboy have been dippin' his wick?

True or not, the BIG APE had an indelible label,

as the station that played on and off the turntables.

Then came the Kaplans, Sis and Stan,

and the BIG APE became famous across the land.

Raft races, beach patrol, skimpy bikini contests,

if the BIG APE did it, you could count on the best!

Not since the seventies has there been a Jacksonville station,

that could claim the former Big Ape’s audience domination.

It's DJs were legends, talented and fun,

They came from all over to play in the sun.

Wheeler, Murphy, Mc Keever and Plaster

Dickie Do and Trippey Rippy...no one could talk faster!

Dr. John, Bill Duncan, and Alan Moore,

and, of course, The Greaseman who the listeners still adore!

So the legend lives on of the AM station,

that gave it's listeners a daily vacation.

They forgot about their day in, day out grind,

prizes, hits, and fun DJs were theirs to find.

Rumor has it late night ‘neath the "old" APE tower,

which radiated fifty thousand watts of power.

Voices can be heard in the winds that whine,

saying "My favorite dial position is sixty-nine

you guys have to know this thread is killing wheeler. i can see the steam rising from his office right now...he's trying to shut this thread down.

u really think wheeler gives a crap about some stuff on a message board? the guys way too busy running a multi-million dollar company to obsess over this drivel.

Don't know about that. Wheeler can be quite petty. I personally saw him kick Brit Whitmeyer out of summertime brews over some stuff he had posted on the internet.

well, come on...it's whitmeyer...can't blame wheeler a bit for that.

;D Who's Wheeler? Only Wheeler, I know is Cleveland Wheeler and he certainly wouldn't grace ROCK 92 in this lifetime....? or would he? Hahahah BIG APE!

Hey............I'd love to quit this truckin' gig and get back on the air. But then I bet no one remembers me.

 Nope, Never heard of ya..Only trucker I ever knew that was worth a flip..was "Truckin Tom Miller" on BT in the 70's...BIG APE!

You're the guy that Demm replaced. Ralphie, instead of a Red Rider BB gun will you settle for an afternoon slot?

The HAL 9000 was less computerized than Rock 92. Here's the average Rock 92 programming day: 15 hours of 2 Schmucks Named Rick, followed by voice tracked droids.

ROCK 92 needs to live up to it's moniker or start over from scratch.. 2 Guys named Boring are "just That"..It's the same old crap every morning..I'm sick and tired of hearing announcers (Notice I did not call them personalities) talk about their wives, kids, dogs lovers, cats or the next trip to Cancun or Kalamazoo! If ya gonna advertise as a Rock Station, Be One..or Quit..Ya can't be a 2nd rate Talk station and a Rock Station too!..GSO/RDU Radio just plain "Sucks"

So what topics should they cover that would help listeners identify with them?
Just stick to the concerts and latest classic rock music tracks, maybe time and temperature on the :15s?

As it always pains me to say it ;), APE is right.

Britt and whoever did a "rock" show today. They discussed R&R hall o' fame and fought about it.

Chris x puke on the other hand, did the usual quizes for waaay too long, predictable top 40 crap and "my wife likes these tampons" blah blah blah blah til lunch.

It's no wonder they have zip for ratings in middays. Nothing about the station "rocks". WMAG could copy their playlist and take their numbers tomorrow.
