Rock goes begging for advertisers

tibbs ive heard some of trg. rock 100 isnt my kinda music but ya i admit trg arent as bad as the giant show. i'll even give u this, sometimes they r even ALMOST ok. ss steve is cool anyway. i never be a fan but when theres nothing else to listen to they r sometimes ok. what im saying is cumlus shouldnt have killed 99x for this. shouldnt been either - or. they couldve put rock 100 and trg on another signal. like i read in other thread they got lie 3 or 4 other stations. so ya its funny they r beggin for advertisers now. they shouldve thought bout that before they killed x.

Actually they don't technically have that many signals. Dickeys and cumulus share blood lines cumulus only owns 99.7 and 100.5. The rest are barely worth listening to based on weak signals.

So to clarify...when a business pays a radio station to run ads it's called advertising...when a radio station uses its own airtime to promote (advertise) its ability to deliver solutions for clients it's called begging...?

I see your point but it does come into question because the businesses are separate from the station and buying the time. Radio stations create those ads for themselves to fill the avails due to lack of sales in order to "promote" the station.

It's not begging, but when you sell all the avails on the station, you don't need to prove any point on the air with your own spots. You're sold out, good sales and good job generating revenue. So to some it doesn't make sense to promote how great you are at delivering solutions to potential clients when you can't even fill the avails on the station, EXCEPT with your own spots! That says nothing to me but you can't deliver.

Like any CEO/Business owner that could afford a spot on Atlanta radio would actually waste their time listening to
Atlanta radio anyway...
