"Do Right" a 1980 hit by Paul Davis... "Do right, and He'll be your guiding light". "I never knew, I could be holding you, but He's making my dreams come true, so I've got Do Right, gotta Do Right the rest of my life".
"Can't keep livin' like we're livin' ... Can't keep pushin' the limit... know we gotta Do Right..."
A very strong Christian message on Top 40 radio. Great stuff!
George Harrison's late 1970s hit "Blow Away", was contrued by some as a good love song. But, when he sings about the ying and the yang, you know that it's about his religious conviction.
"Jesus is Just Alright" was originally done by The Byrds in 1969/1970. The original was not a big hit, although it was released as a single.
"Deep Enough For Me", Ocean's followup single to "Put Your Hand In The Hand".
The first notable Christian Rock artist, I believe, was Larry Norman ("Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music?" - early 1970s).
Of course, there's a whole industry of Christian pop and rock today. Artists include Reliant K. ("Pressing On" 2001 or so), DC Talk ("Jesus Freak"-mid '90s), Switchfoot ("Meant To Live"- 2005/6), The David Crowder Band and tons more. Turn on an EMF "Air One" station and you'll hear them all.
