Ron and Fez returning to 92.3?

In my opinion, it's an admission that the old KROCK, which they touted so heavily a month ago in bringing it back, won't work today. They'll say it's an evolved KROCK, but I don't think that's what they promised the public when they apologized for taking it off the air in the first place. The question (which, by the way, neither of us will be the deciders on) is whether the new KROCK meets the expectations of either the old or potential KROCK listeners.

I think you're confusing things.

CBS-FM was well-loved and the outcry when it was taken off the air was a pretty big deal.

K-Rock to Free back to K-Rock was basically an experiment and not "research" gone horribly awry like CBS to Jack was. There wasn't a big public outcry to bring back K-Rock, it was just there. In fact, I think there was more of an outcry that Ron and Fez were taken off that K-Rock being gone in the first place.

K-Rock outside of Stern never pulled great numbers, and a lot of people turned off the radio when Stern went off.

Now, if they decide to move forward with Ron and Fez in the afternoons, they have a drive-time show that has name recognition with the morning show that's been growing. Another advantage is no cannibalized audience, something that O&A suffers from.

"old" K-Rock listeners - outside of Stern fans - were never that many in the first place.

Starscream,

Although K-Rock didn't have decent numbers outside of Stern, I'm sure the suits will settle for a 2.3 share, better than what the station had under FREE-FM.

Thanks,

Kevin:

Outside of O&A, Ron and Fez had the best numbers and the fastest growth of any of the dayparts on the station. As WYSP in Philly was successful with talk during drive and alt-rock the rest of the day, I don't see why it wouldn't work here. The only reason CBS didn't pull the trigger on that in NYC is because Stern and O&A couldn't work with each other.

did any of you guys bother to listen today to their 4 hour hostile takeover on k-rock. I missed it because I had to work.

I heard some of it. It was basically equivalent them to doing very limited "bits" as bumpers between music. No flow, and I think it gave listeners a very, very, very small taste of R&F.
