It appears he's quite the regional legend... but the Tulsa market seems locked down pretty tight.
He could work KVOO or K95.5FM, but KVOO just hired Kelley Cash, & K95.5FM just brought in Kelley's replacement... hard to think there's an opening either place.
From what I'm reading about him, he'd be a perfect fit at Big Country 99.5, but their voicetracked automation system is really doing the job and at low cost... I doubt that they'll want to disturb their current setup.
He might be able to blend at Star (depending on his sound), but I doubt they have any openings, either. Ditto for Mix.
So many of the other stations are so young targeted & looking for a "natural" (aka non-traditional) radio voice... I've never heard him, I don't know what he's capable of, certainly he is a significant talent from the awards, recognitions, syndicated show, and the sorrow of those who listened in Houston & those who worked for him.
Could Clear Channel afford to put a live / local guy on 93.5, Chrome-FM? Would he be a good fit at KWGS? Does he have any talk experience that might let him add a local show to KRMG or KFAQ? Any sports talk experience that would allow him to work at The Animal or The Buzz? Would it be worth his while to talk to stations outside the immediate area like BrightStar 100.1 or any number of country stations across Green Country?
Would he perhaps have better luck offering his voicetracking skills from Tulsa to any number of stations nationwide until something opened up here?
I'm afraid it may be a bit of a waiting game for an opening to appear in Tulsa radio... although you can bet he'll be on plenty of PDs' radars!
...Then again, who knows who he's already talked to here. 8)
