RTN Currently Off the Air

So there goes WNGS, I guess.

Too bad - when they move from flea-power analog 67 (and WKBW DT 7-2) to full-power DTV on 7 after transition, I was expecting that to be one of my stronger out-of-market signals here. (And no RTN in Rochester or Syracuse yet, or, I suppose, ever now...)

RTN is still on KIRO 7.2, so it's probably difficulties with certain stations.

Most RTN stations are now back up via the national RTN feed.

Yeah, Trip. WEHT's putting the following crawl on the bottom of the screen:

"From RTN TV 25 ... The programming currently airing is from the national RTN feed and may not reflect your local program guide. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. WEHT-TV/DT, Evansville, IN"

I didn't catch what was on at 10 AM because I was out of the house, but Ironside was on at 9AM (1 hour early) and Quincy came on at 11 (3 hours early).

Here in Detroit WXYZ 7.2 is also airing programs a few minutes past the normal start time. The programs do not match what the guide is showing. One thing I did notice is the picture quality has improved greatly suggesting WXYZ is running a back up system of tapes in house.

If RTN tanks, WXYZ can just run old episodes of its own "Hot Fudge" show 24/7! ;)

So is the Equity owned station in Las Vegas KEGS showing a RTN feed or a Equity filler feed? The top of the hour ID no longer has any mention of RTN. So is the programming coming from Little Rock, Chattanooga, or is it progammed locally? They didn't air that Daybreak show at 9 am and have been showing movies that look like they are from the 40's.

If they are 40s movies, I'd bet they are public domain ones that they got from the dollar store, LOL.
Will be interesting to see if Equity picks up This TV or .2 Network for all of the former RTN stations.

Considering Equity's precarious economic position, This and .2 would probably just laugh in its face.

Just a side question: Considering the timing of Luken's purchase of RTN was he responsible for the change in programming distributed by CBS to Universal? Although there are still some programs I like, there were more when RTN was carrying CBS distributed shows.

RTN still on in QC (But something else is the problem....)

In the Quad Cities, RTN is operating on WHBF-DT just fine. I never had any problems with this channel since it came early last month. Although for some reason, the station can't seem to make up it's mind as to air programs. For the first two weeks, RTN4 aired without any local identity (just some funny ways of IDing the network where apparently local stations insert commercials). Then two weeks later (to the day), we finally had some local identification, but then most shows (with a few exceptions) aired an hour later. Now I have it on RTN4 as we speak, and it's The A-team at 7 P.M. Central Time again, just like the first two weeks!

Reports that "8 Prime", what WFLA calls RTN, launched without a hitch:

They, too, must be using the national feed at the moment ("A-Team" as I write this, 8PM ET).

Now we're just waiting for WFLA's sister station WJAR/Providence to do the same. As I write, were still getting the muted version of Weather Plus, with "VIPIR". Well, I've been waiting for 11 months (decoder in hand) to get RTN. Let's get the show on the road, shall we?

Did RTN change there name to my retro tv because KAZT 7.2 showed a bumper saying my retro tv from when turned it on at 7:58pm - 8:00pm.

I was experimenting with my best digital converter box and indoor antenna in an upstairs bedroom and discovered that I was able to get WLMT, the CW affiliate in Memphis, and discovered that RTN is on their subchannel. However what I got was a frozen picture of two men in Naval uniforms. (Not McHale's Navy, but probably a 70's or 80's show, not sure what though.) This was an actual frozen picture, not just a temporary digital freeze-up, because the sound on the subchannel was OK, and the main channel was OK. I'd hope this was just a local temporary problem and not happening in other places, or is it?

It could be a feed from America One or White Springs TV, both of which air old public-domain movies. This and .2 charge affiliation fees (cash plus), so I think that they would cost more than Equity can currently afford.

I agree with some of the comments made after this article. However, I still think the "subchannel network" is a viable business model for stations that want to do something with programming, but don't have room for tape libraries that all these older shows come on. I mean, how many all-weather and weather/traffic subchannels can a market have with zero viewers (Phoenix has three)?

I haven't seen it, but if this is the case, wouldn't FOX have grounds to sue them for using a name similar to MyNetworkTV?
