RTV new lineup

Starting late sunday night they began airing different programming.
Davinci's Inquest, Cold Squad (2 Canadian shows)New Zorro, Movin On, Naked City, Route 66, Starsky and Hutch, Police Story, The Saint ( A Brittish show starring Roger Moore) and Intelligence (another Canadian Show) Some slots are filled with 2 episodes of the Rifleman and Daniel Boone. They've reduced some of the scripted shows on Saturday with magazine shows such as Little Miracles, criminal minds (not the cbs show) , a car show, and outdoorsman.

I'm looking forward to seeing Starksky and Hutch, Route 66, Police Story and Naked City. But it looks like they have taken a step back, with some of the other stuff. And airing back to back episodes of the few remaining shows left.

Looks like everything is gone except for Peter Gun, Robin Hood, Bill Cosby, Rifleman, Daniel Boone and couple others. The Saturday morning still has the Archies, Fat Albert, He Man, She Ra and Lassie.

Not sure what I think about this new lineup.

Sounds like all of the Universal shows are gone from the station you're watching, at least? Do you mind me asking what affiliate you're watching?

my mistake i turned on wmfp in Boston after 12 when rtv comes on and sure enough 1pm Zorro!! about time i was getting tired of Marcus Welby whole show a 100 times in a row!!

Also apparently, the rights to Sony programming are not exclusive to Antenna TV, as it included Sony shows like Route 66, Starsky and Hutch, and Police Story -- maybe Antenna TV passed over these shows, making them available to anyone else?

RTV didn't "Lost" the rights to the Universal Shows, they just didn't renew the contract. "Lost" makes it sound like it was pulled by the studio.

What is the deal with some of the recent shows - perhaps a barter deal with the distributor?

I think they're just desparate for shows. It's hard to find something that's not owned by one of the big studios (though they do have some Sony shows, apparently).

I really find this schedule less than impressive. I wonder if MeTV or AntennaTV will go after the NBCUniversal library.

Either barter or low-cost cash. KAZT 7.2 in the Phoenix market will now air Cold Case Files from A&E, which is already shown on KASW-61 weekdays so I guess Syndex does not apply to it. Da Vinci's Inquest is barter as a weekly, I'm not sure if that's the case for stripping though.

As for weekend programs, Steel Dreams is a barter show which airs on America One among other low-rent program services. I'm just waiting for RTV to add other odd more-recent weeklies such as Box Office America, Treasure Hunters Roadshow, and Junk'd.

I don't like the new lineup at all. Far too many black & white and older shows I've never even heard of. Bring back the 80's stuff.

Box Office America, Treasure Hunters Roadshow, and Junk'd air on RTV's sister network My Family TV.

They still have the 80's cartoons on Saturday mornings, so they still have some 80's stuff on there.

Would not surprise me if they do pop up on RTV since both channels seem to be sharing some shows.

My question: why didn't they renew the NBC Universal deal? They claim they wanted to "change it up", but I have this gut feeling that it cost too much for them. I'm not saying some of the new stuff is not good, but it's a step down, to say the least. They ARE losing affiliates....

WJTV Jackson, MS. It looks like the weekend schedule has gone down the tubes. They used to run a lot of westerns on weekend. I'm not a big fan of amazing medical miracles, incredible pets and other stuff like that. I want scripted shows.

Just went to their website. I can't find their message board so they must have been getting complaints. Just tuned into RTV and they have a "Technical difficulties" slide up, which as been up for the last 30 minutes. removing so many shows at once is likely to be a disaster. They should have rotated them. Run the entire series through a couple of times then rotated it with another show, but not do it all at once. Our local ABC affiliate used to run several months of Matlock and then rotated it out with In the Heat of the Night for years. That way people wouldn't get burned out on the same episodes. This new schedule on RTV is likely to be a disaster unless they can make up for it with Starsky and Hutch.

I was checking it out around midnight and saw that go up. It went up at 12am EST when Cold Case was supposed to come on.

I agree, it's a disaster. It was less than impressive before, but this is just not good. They had me until the recent stuff like Cold Case/Da Vinci's and those reality shows. Who wants to see a show about celebrity kitchens every morning?!

If there is a time for affiliates to try to break their contract with RTV, now is the time. However, from what I've been told by KAZT, they're committed to them until the end of August.

Word was that AZTV wanted to keep RTV affiliation, moving them to ch 7.3 in Sept. This may change their minds.

Wow, there are some real flops here. And please don't confuse Cold Case (a good show which is too expensive for RTV) with Cold Case Files (an A&E show which flopped hard in syndication and is down to LP's, graveyard timeslots and cellar dweller stations everywhere), which is now part of RTV. How is that and DaVinci's Inquest "retro" in any way? And Movin' On? From the 70's? About CB culture?! Are they kidding with airing that five days a week? And the weekends are filled with nothing but the dregs of cheap Canadian Content drama and resold Crook and Chase programming from RFD-TV.

The schedule reminds me of what WITI in Milwaukee had to show because they were in the same market as the second MeTV market to ever exist (and which ate up every classic show right they could get ahold of); alot of public domain and low-quality rights without any kind of flow or uniqueness. If this is the new schedule they're promoting, I'll take 15 hours a day of Unreliable Sources over this appalling schedule. Looks like the LocalTV stations (like WITI) which went to Antenna and Cox got out of RTV at the right time.
