They currently air 12 hours of infomercials on 62.1 - 12 midnight to 12 noon - no reason not to expect that to change.

Right, and why wouldn't they stay on 62-1, where the cable viewers will be able to see them?

- Trip

Because Weigel doesn't allow for local cut-a-ways for infomercials.

I'd expect we'll see cable coverage for 62.2 - The other local stations with sub-channels have cable coverage - I think the motivation for keeping RTV is that they can get clearances for 62.2 with RTV than they could with an all-infomercial channel! :)

I hope so, but I still wonder why there has never been cable coverage for Qubo and Ion Life from WBPX?

RTV posted it on their Facebook page.

Where on their Facebook page did they say the 12 hours per day of infomercials would be on 62-2?

- Trip

They didn't say anything about infomercials.

But here is the announcement from them... http://www.facebook.com/pages/RTV/206821962679738

RTV
Beginning on 12/15, RTV will be found on WMFP's .2 in Boston. We are proud to continue bringing the best in classic television to Boston viewers!

of course RTV isn't going to mention infomercials, but they are on both the national and local line-ups!

Again Weigel contracts for Me-TV doesn't allow for local cut-a-ways for infomercials.

Are you sure about that? Or are infomercials simply limited by contract (which would be smart)?

Because I've seen some infomercials on Me-TV, but only at specific times (like weekend mornings). And, I've heard of local MeTV affiliates showing infomercials in place of certain shows. I believe that happens in San Francisco with KOFY - but don't quote me.

From what I recall, iON media doesn't negotiate the subs into their cable carriage contracts.
I've never seen those channels carried on a cable system. Cox doesn't carry them and Time Warner doesn't either.
