"Anointed?" How many times has God "anointed" someone for a task but not given a lick of talent for its accomplishment? Not once that I've ever known. That, alone, disproves that assumption.

I un fortunately am an ORIGINAL source. I was there. I witnessed all of it. I got to see the smug look on Israel's face. I got to see the smug look on Carman's face. "I'm too big to see some crippled kid." seemed to be what he was saying.
Carman had to have a special room for he and Israel. He decided not to come for a sound check and the meet and greet. Only after mom threatened the radio station , the Church, and Carman did he meet with the child. He ditched radio station staff and after they waited for voer an hour sent them to the rear of the public line despite a contractural agreement.
I was there with the church doing the concert.
Carman bailed on several appointments for call-ins prior to the concert.
I can argue all day about the best way to approach someone but this approach doesn't work with Carman Ministries. Carman is without a label, a hit record, any possible connection to his audience, or pastoral oversight. At least this is how it seems.
How many upset people left the concert after being promised things that didn't happen? Many. He was paid upfront so no one could hold the cash.
He is too big for his audience. And an audience that he used to carry weight with. Me for one.
Carman is a public figure. His Tom Cruise and Rosie o'Donnel antics in public with his fans may be the reason the original poster noted problems with Carman.
At any backstage event I have been to he is typically aloof but the recent actions are clear indications he has no interest in honoring committments.
As a secular radio station operator would you have scheduled George Jones when he was in his no show phase? No.
As a business or ministry would you schedule Carman when he fails to meet committments he promised? What lawsuits would we have faced if the child's mom didn't spend time yelling at Israel and others in security until they finally let the wheelchair bound child meet with him? Stricly legal, what pressure did this place on ministries because Carman wouldn't honor what he promised?
Think the radio station plays the has been's music anymore? Answer : No. No one following charts does but this station DID prior to the prima donna's last show in our area. Note in the studio about the concert where his cd's used to be. Whole staff got the full view of this in action day of and night of the concert.
And staff kept saying : "Who is Israel? Carman's best friend? The whole gym got to see a side of Carman no one knew about.
Think mom wants to have anything to do with Carman in the future? Answer : No.
Since his "ministry" doesn't respond how would one approach Carman? How about an answer to this?
For what it's worth, Carman did a signing at a Wal-Mart in Tulsa in the late 90's. The only people I saw upset were boyfriends of girls who thought Carman was a stud!
Anyway's, I do recall that the Wal-Mart was a handicap friendly store so there was no drama such as what Cheif Engineer has witnessed. Just a lot of guys egos becoming handicapped! ;D
Just a side note, but I've met enough artists now not to worry about the aloof ones.

JACKD, just because people are reciting apparent life experiences doesn't make them gossip... it could just be an example of how power corrupts even the flock.
Yeah, it's shameful, but it happens. I got stories... LOADS AND LOADS AND LOADS of them, but I am not going to air them here. Partly because I have signed contracts of confidentiality with many of these people. But give it a rest, just because they sing and talk about Jesus, doesn't mean they don't have issues either.
We look to God to empower them. They are not idols because with one good push, they will crash hard right off the mantle.
And uh, Carmen would not have far to go... you seen his 5'5" frame?! WOW! Had no clue he was that short. ;D
