Gregg Henson is reporting on his blog (today's entry titled "WKRK is Over!") that this switch is effective to take place as soon as today, and that both stations will be largely laden with syndicated programming.

Excerpt:
My sources tell me that Terry Foster and his partner Mike Valenti have a meeting Monday morning to discuss their role in the new WKRK as a sports station. There is no doubt that WKRK is going sports, the questions remain; which talent falls on which station.
He goes on to mention that Demenski & Doyle have yet to agree on a new contract; Bill O'Reilly could end up live on 1270; and "Motor City Middays" may eventually perish on 1270.
Who will end up staying in mornings on 97.1 - the incumbent Opie & Anthony, or Mike & Mike which replaced them on 1270 last year - is unclear.
In a subsequent blog, he reports that D&D have "cleaned out their offices".
FYI: Both 97.1 and 1270 stream online.
