Rumors upon rumors...

I really like most of the people supposedly getting the axe and here's my two cents!

Ken Barnett - genuinely nice guy and a great DJ. Has been with KVIL close to 30 years. If they get rid of him, they're STUPID!

Terry King - wonderful guy! If they get rid of him, they're STUPID TOO!

Larry Dixon - been around a long time and one class act. If they get rid of him, they're STUPID THREE!

If the above is true, I say screw the powers in charge and go out and get and great job somewhere in the D/FW market!

Thats the big problem with this market....alot of great "legacy" stations are being bulldozed all for the bottom line

I'm gonna get nuked here BUT, "Bottom Line" is, these great names are associated with a crappy station. One that needed a makeover. When you remodel a bathroom do you keep the toilet seat?

I'm not saying it's right, but when somethings been going downhill for so long with the same people going down with it. You've got to make a change in a re-image.

Unfortunately for Ms. Ponder et al, looks like the final score is "Three strikes and out."

Keep in mind that in the context of radio, "Legacy" means "Old".

Maybe "Tired"...

Maybe "Outdated"...

And if the ratings supported a "Legacy" station, then perhaps there would be a reason to keep it. Unfortunately, the ratings dropped like a baby wearing a lead diaper.<P ID="signature">______________

Sometimes the baby is thrown out with the bath water, then plowed under.

KVIL needed an overhaul, but when you have good talent reduced to reading some liner from the sales dept.,and a short short short playlist plus an over abundance of spots,do you really feel a listener is going to keep listening?
Lite 103.7 has been tried, and it died. A station's independent identity is important not an assembly line. Nikki maybe a good programmer but if she bows to the Infinity suits all the time her prescence doesn't matter. You might as well just hire a broadcasting school student straight out of class to run the place for all the good it will do.

You're right. The "Lite" monikor is old and tired. And what does it truly MEAN? Lite what?!! A song like "Summer of 69" by Bryan Adams is pretty rockin', and it's certainly not "lite." It's totally generic and confusing to the listener, and as you said, it's been done before. It makes you wonder, does Nikki Nite REALLY have a big say in what's going on here? Or is Kurt Johnson being allowed to screw something else up? And as far as KJ and the semi-success of Jack is concerned, please...his name was simply attached to a new format that was going to be hot for a while. His track record otherwise is horrendous. Is KJ telling "Nikki Lite" who to hire and fire too? If not, how do you explain keeping their UNLISTENABLE morning show? They were beaten badly when they were here the last time, and they've been beaten by every competitor again this time. H-E-L-L-O??!!! We know Infinity doesn't like to hand out fat pay checks for a 1.5 share morning show, so who has the answer here?

Any possibility that this is an "apple barrel turnover". Maybe Ken and Terry are getting moved over to KLUV? They are both getting up there in years, (Ken is at least mid 50's). Ron was moved that way when he no longer appealed to that age 28 divorced mother of 2.

Ken is 54...

I do remember someone telling me that Ken would like to work for KLUV...that was last month; so perhaps Ken will show up at KLUV after the first of the year. I doubt they will get rid of Ken...he's too good to lose and I'd bet he'd take a paycut (LOL) just to stay in the Dallas area. He's a Texas boy through and through and ONE HELL OF A NICE GUY!

He'll be at KLUV within 10 days. This was just a ploy by CBS to cut him loose, make him lose his confidence and then get him back for less $$$$. Everyone will be at KLUV. That is the master plan.

By the way, he is not that nice of a guy, he has a way of making you believe that.
