Rush Limbaugh "Suspicious Package" At Florida Home

Hey Holland, why this is not a "Imus" moment is you won't find local right wing talkers who are on competeing stations in any market talk about this story as it become a plug to tune into that station that is carring Rush.

I doubt the local morning guy won't touch this on The Truth here in Tucson as it would be a plug to KNST's programming...morning show, Rush, etc..... ???

>>Booth is only known really for ONE thing.

Yes and it's a legendary assassination that Bill O'Reilly recently co-wrote a bestselling book about.

Note the article mentions "Brader, 54, will not face charges from the incident". Not sure if true,
but one person on the Free Republic messageboard said they know the doctor and if he seems
a bit unhinged, it could be because he had a son die at an early age.

>>The item, Brader explained, was a $200 prototype of the “John Wilkes Booth Memorial Award,” which he wanted to give Limbaugh “in an attempt to receive his endorsement and get potential revenue off of sales and use of said endorsement.”

(Rush of course has a connection with Pittsburgh, having been DJ "Jeff Christie" at WIXZ etc.
His love of the Steelers may stem from those years.)

Regardless of what's exchanged in our recreational discussion here/now, The Rush Limbaugh Show will never fully-recover from the wound self-inflicted March 1, 2012.

I agree. I doubt there'll be all that much short-term impact, but I think we're now seeing the beginning of the end. The start of an erosion of his power, influence, and "mystique".

As a political independent, I don't have a dog in the fight. I was a regular listener for about ten years, mostly in the 1990s. I didn't always agree with him, but I thought his points were well-reasoned and that his criticisms of the Clinton administration, etc. usually had merit. I also found him to be witty, caring, and respectful. A great broadcaster and a constant wherever I was in my travels around the country.

But eventually, I found him becoming more shrill, strident, unfunny, and....for want of a better way to put it... "full of himself". His followers and a high percentage of republican elected officials started treating him as a god. And then from my observation, he seemed to start beleiving that he was a god.

My prediction is that many in positions of authority in the republican party will begin to realize that he's creating some very serious damage to their brand. Damage that could be painful both at the ballot box and in their fundraising efforts.

While his comments might be red meat for what republicans think their base is, I personally found them to be offensive and uncalled for. And he's now given those in the republican party heretofore too timid to cross Mr. Limbaugh reason to go ahead, "grow a pair", and stand up to him.

Let's see...the spring book begins this month, right?

I suspect there will be no open avails on Rush's show, only a shorter waiting list. The only lasting downside I see here for Rush is in the possible loss of affiliates, and I'm not sure there's alternative programming out there that wouldn't be a net loss for the sales department. Many Clear Channel Talk stations are Rush affiliates, and they're not going to dump a show provided by another corporate division over this.

This is no more an attack on women than denial of government coverage of paternity payments would be an attack on men. This is an economic issue, a fight against the creation of a huge new entitlement program. How in the world is any woman (let alone one with the means to attend Georgetown Law School) entitled to a cut of my paycheck for condoms? Really?

I've never heard a Sleep Train spot on Rush's show. I'm guessing they bought locally in some markets, and the cancellation of their spots is just as big a promotional opportunity for them in social media as Rush's comments are to him.

Consider Rush's demographics. Do you really think your mother and grandmother are outraged at what he said? They probably agree!

Shows how much you know. If the station managers that carry Limbaugh were predominantly female, he would have been out long since. I'm sure that those mangers who have wives, daughters and granddaughters will be hearing plenty. Maybe they won't pay any more attention yet than they pay to complaining listeners, but maybe they'll have a harder time looking at themselves in the mirror. And advertisers have belatedly started to walk.

Drip, drip, drip.......

How so? Better programming to increase station listener loyalty -- or bartered programming to raise quick cash?

Holland, you've been around for your whole career, and you are a hard working man, who cares and means only well and good for those who consult you. Unfortunately some of the younger generation cannot always be trusted not to mishandle your suggestions when they are convenient to use as a ruse with preprepared defenses that they were only following your advice when eventually presented with a challenge to gross misconduct.

Some Silicon Valley FAT CATS don't take any deliveries at their home or office, they go to a "freight forwarder place" that allows the big wig to pick-up what they want and leave the rest behind.

Little wigs use drop box places like The UPS Store to take deliveries. It's not that uncommon, even for eBay sellers.

Does every woman really support this new entitlement of free birth control for all? Part of our health care cost spiral is then incessant demand that insurance cover everything from an aspirin to a heart transplant with no out of pocket cost. Somehow we all think there really is such a thing as sky's the limit, no questions asked coverage. She can attend Georgetown Law School, yet demands free birth control?

So when does Huckabee launch and does he benefit?
