Rush Radio branding done?

the number is less than .9 and more than .7

I know one fringe FM on the South Shore that is pulling a number just shy of 3.0 in the mid day in that same demo, although they placed right under wrko in the 6+ published numbers.

I forgot to put in what I was going to type before I went over to look at Heslams piece...

Maybe Rush isn't the draw they thought he was, talk about hitching your wagon to a falling star!

He has gotten some bad press between attacking the First Lady over trivial matters, and the Clear Channel billboard in Tuscon thing back in December.

Every time he gets in to the mainstream media, away from his dittoheads, it is for something unflattering that he has done....

I am more conservative than most trust me, but I think Limbaugh's act is getting old, stale, and further away from reality every day. He is one step away from turning into the next Michael Alan Weiner.

To a good portion of the population Rush Limbaugh is avoided when possible.

PS did anyone see his performance on The Golf Channel getting lessons from Hank Haney? Mr. Viagra Oxycontin Limbaugh, who has always led us to believe he was the greatest living white golfer actually sucks at the game. He wishes his ratings were the same as his golf score. The only course he should be allowed on is one with a big orange dinosaur and a windmill.

Another selection from the "Grooveyard of Forgotten Favorites." People have used the "he's a falling star" or "past his prime" argument since the early 1990s.

The "Rush Radio" branding "failure" is more attributed to CC starting up a nearly all-syndicated talk station - in a market that thrives on local talk - on a start-up AM signal that's technically one step below WBZ, WRKO or 97.1. With nary a hint of promotions or advertising to boot. What did anyone REALLY think was going to happen with that combination?

I will say this, that if "Rush Radio" was on the FM dial, there would be a modest ratings bump, but would still come nowhere close to challenging any of the aforementioned established talkers.

Nathan I used to listen to him, I bought the books, I watched the TV show, I don't know if he left me or I left him, but don't agree with him much anymore, I don't like his personal attacks, I don't like those slips of the tongue double entendres he uses to slam people he disagrees with, I could go on, but the act has gotten old, just like Stern.

I can't listen to him for more than a few minutes. I had him on in the car for a few minutes today, that was as much as I could take. I actually switched to McPhee!

I hear ya. I just always wanted to use the "Grooveyard of Forgotten Favorites" shtick. ;)

...Premiere's Jason Lewis show, out of Minneapolis. I think he and Katz were at the same station in Charlotte at one point...

Jeff Katz was on WBT in Charlotte for awhile before leaving.

Jason Lewis currently airs nights on mostly-bird-fed-and-doesn't-hold-a-candle-to-WBT talk station WBCN.

Oh OK; I know Jeff mentioned something about Lewis airing on WBCN Charlotte, to be sure. WBCN...
the folks down there have no idea what heritage calls those are...

Rush is boring as hell.

If Judeao-Christian dogma is correct, hell is anything but BORING. Swimming around in lakes of molten lead really concentrates the mind. Just ask the 42 children who made fun of a prophet's bald head 2,500 years ago.

Rumba can wait awhile; the hiring of Paula O'Connor and Eric Coldwell hints they're sticking with it awhile.
Now, will it still be there in late '12 if Howie wants to jump...?

If Howie leaves WRKO and jumps to WXKS, it's gonna get real ugly. Wow!!!

With all of Carr's bitching about west-of-128 listeners having to listen on WCRN after sunset in the winter, how is he EVER going to accept WTAG, even with its 94.9 translator in downtown Worcester (or is it on Asnebumskit?). WTAG's directional patterns don't provide much coverage of MetroWest, while WCRN really covers MetroWest nicely at night. I suppose CCU might buy WCRN from the Carberry's and move WTAG to 830 and then sell WTAG to Entercom. Entercom might then sell WVEI (AM) to Blount or something like that. Carr would then have a network consisting of WXKS (AM), WTAG plus translator, WGIR, WHJJ, and 930 on the NH Seacoast (I forget the 930 calls). You think that would satisfy the SOB? Bet he'd drive around looking for holes in the coverage so he could continue bitching!

Why does Elton John say that hell is "cold" in the song "Rocket Man"?

If Howie leaves WRKO and jumps to WXKS, it's gonna get real ugly. Wow!!!

The only place it would be real ugly would be in Carr's bank account. Howie had one chance to hit the jackpot and he blew it, due to his own hubris and vindictiveness. Watching him take it in the neck had a certain air of righteous payback. And now his is trapped (unless he wants to leave the market, or retire.)

Anyone who thinks Carr is going anywhere is delusional.

Regards,
TSB

Rush happens to be spot on in criticizing the First Lady's hypocrisy.

"in a market that thrives on local talk "

If this market thrives on local talk, why have so many of them failed?
