RUSS DODGE OUT AT HISPANIC 107.1FM INDY

He took over VERY profitable stations...

Curious, which ones were profitable when he took them over? And if there was theft, etc, why no prosecution?

They did essentially replace everyone that made WEDJ and WSYW a success. They got rid of Barnett, they pushed out Eisenhart, they pushed the talent out, they brought in Dodge, Stephanie, Sepulveda, some other sales people that worked there before and were ineffectual before, brought in Mark Clark, and the latest Teffany or whatever his name is. Dodge hamstringed their sales horse Sucre, and kept on Chasteen but both were ineffectual without Barnett.
These are people that cannot and I mean CANNOT think outside of little boxes. They step over dollars to save pennies, GM's, Sales Managers, Operations, Promotions managers, Program Directors they are NOT!

I wish they would sell the stations to Oasis, but the would be better off selling to Barnett even on contract!!!!!!!!

why? what makes you THINK any of those people would be around, when new ownership takes over, they would be the first to be CUT, that's the last place you want to be! you are green arn't you!
i was just looking for the NAME of that new owner , i figured you would know. you are the one perpetuating this rumor.

Moot point now. But if you'll recall, ALL of the initial WKLU employees Oasis hired were from the old Quinn roster - Jay Baker, Libby, Robby, Jimi, etc.

MOST new owners are smart enough to clean house and NOT keep the same players - not Oasis.

If you had any historical recall of WKLU you would have understood the point the 'ho was making in the first place.

And yes, the rumor was obviously fact - as the 'ho said it was.

From my understanding both were profitable. WSYW reportedly billed at the tune of about 40 to 50k per month (a sun up sun down station mind you) and WEDJ at somewhere about 175 to 200k. Now let's consider these bought and paid for with no bills other than payroll, utilities, and maybe a lease or two. WSYW does not even show up anymore its so bad.
As far as the other question you would have to call Byrd jr or Tipmore on that one, and lets not even get started on how bad that situation is.

Ike - in searching your previous posts and trying to find out when you were fired by Dodge, I came across one of your posts that I had to bring back out. All bs aside, you made this post in Dec. 07 and NAILED it! What you wrote then is absolutely accurate now given the failure/fire sale of the station...

.......

What killed 101.9?
Bad leadership (G.M. but ultimately Ownership)
Bad sales results (G.M. and Ownership)
All the testosterone left the format (PD and since Ownership kept his fingers in it, his fault too)
Talent pool got watered down (PD, GM, and Ownership)
They lost their attitude and ballsy approach to radio in Central Indiana (same as above)

What's funny is they started by going after Q and JJK is the one that drove the nails.

Oh, and about OLDIES being a solid idea "financially"... Cheesy HA! Cheesy That's a good one! A solid knee slapper (to fit the format)!

This format is merely a prelude to two things:
1. A SOLD sign out front.
2. A Big Format flip (Oldies eases the blow... not as many pissed of listeners or complaint calls)
.....

you are right most New Owners clean house, not a good thing IF you are still there when the new guy comes in and wants to clean house. and that was my point, sending your stuff to the new owner in a situation like this is FINE,i'm not so sure doing it while you are still there as part of the old administration would do you any good, these people have usually already made up their minds. in the case of KLU EMF has no use for any of them with what they will be doing. as far as the RUMOR about the sale, there are so many RUMORS on this board that are NOT true, i take it with a grain of salt, and you should too, this time it turned out to be true, the one thing HO had against him and my belief in the rumor , was the fact that he has some kind of chip on his shoulder about Oasis, so my first thought was not to believe it, it turned out to be correct and Oasis is $100,000 richer and HO is not.

You are getting closer, but Dodge never fired me, I never worked for the guy.
I gotta say I am feeling pretty damn cocky right now... Not often you get told you were "right" in radio....LMAO.

Gee Radioho.... Thanks for pointing out about reading past posts. I went back and read a bunch of yours and a few others and even read mine again. I was right about a lot of stuff, except how long it took to fire Dodge... I am one lucky psychic, or is that psychotic. LOL.

This is kind of creepy. Can you please stalk someone else.

It was NOT a rumor that KLU was being sold. I had PERSONAL contact and KNEW it was a done deal. No rumor.

Let's say, for arguments sake, that a satellite preacher buys 107.1. That would be 3 Hendricks County stations out of 3 with NO local (or regional, for that matter) programming or studios. Would the FCC, if a freq could be had, allow a new station in Hendricks County. Or would we be SOL?

SOL. That means Stations Outta Local?

The FCC doesn't care about a particular City or County receiving "programming" , just "Service". Would you like fries with that is service. Would you like less cockroach with your fries is bad service. is either "good" service?

WSPM has studios at the Pyramids and does local programming. The bird is a large part of the day though.
