Russ Martin arrested

Fox 4 just reported that Russ Martin was arrested this morning. I can't find a link on Fox's website, Star Telegram, or Dallas Morning News, so I backed up my Tivo and translated the story word for word as Steve Eager read it.

"Controversial radio personality Russ Martin was arrested for assault. Southlake police arrested him this morning at 930 and charged him with aggravated assault,bodily injury with a weapon. When asked Southlake...when we asked Southlake police for more details they refused.They would not say what kind of weapon he used, who he assaulted, or where it happened. Martin hosts his own show on KLLI 105.3 FM."

WOW! Whatever he did must have been bad for the cops to take him in. He's kind of "protected" by police. FOX News says "charged with aggravated assault with bodily injury with a weapon."

Todays show was "Best Of". I just thought they were taking a long weekend.

You don't think he lost his temper and popped the girlfriend do you?

Probably was a radio listener who said "man your show stinks".......Guess ole Russ boy has lost it............it finally happened...his ego caught up with him (or more like exploded)....damn shame...he was good in the past...........a LONG time ago.......but then I havent listened to him in the last 8 years or more....Everett will bail him out (is Val still with him?)
 
Story says he already bonded out. Everett must be on speed dial.

Russ talks a lot about the medications he takes, and his drinking. They were talking about his depression just a couple of days ago. Fox doesn't say what time in the morning the assault happened. It could have been early morning and he was still on a bender from the night before.

And wasn't the show making fun of Andy Dick and his assault two or three days ago?

Val and Everett broke up a long time ago. She was doing a real estate show with some guy she was dating (or so I heard).

That would mean he was at home working on the show. He's always talking about how no one is supposed to bother him when he's in his office.
Maybe the GF pissed him off? :mad:

I wonder if this means "best of" next week. If not, how are they going to spin this?

WAIT a minute...you mean he HAS a girlfriend?? (well I guess a lot of women will give in for money..........I think Dr Laura has a name for them.....but they arent unpaid! ;)

Ahhh Val....what a lady....I remember getting a hug (and more) from her when she left MIX....(helped carry her box.....of stuff that is!!! down to her car :)

Geesh...I just love corporate radio...if you arent a major on air star, and have depression, you get illegally fired by an a$$ of a GM and your career is in the can (no tnx to 9/11 too)....but be a major star, you can stab someone and get arrested and proabably stay in the biz (and then there was the PD who was sexually harrasing women and payola and other things.....and resigned and the same a$$ GM said he wished him well..right lisa???....and that same PD is now on the west coast with a major group.....guess the *&%$ does float to the top after all!! EHH I'm involved in a project now with a budget of $500million and a potential revenue of $3.2BILLION........ahhh yes, I like my job and my boss plans for me to get a nice 10% bonus again.....)

Russ is a bit of a loose cannon, it seems. I always was under the impression that the neurosis was a bit, though. Apparently not.
 
I will say that if it comes out that Russ whacked on a woman, I am done with his show and if Live 1053 keeps him then I am done with KLLI and KRLD. I have no tolerance for any man hitting a woman.

Disclaimer: This is only an opinion and no facts have been discovered. DO NOT assume that Russ has hit a woman.
 
I think most of Russ's listeners will bail on him as it's hard to get past these charges. One source is reporting he "showed disorderly behavior and he resisted arrest.". i think because of his connections with police department, he thinks he walks on water and would not be surprised to hear this report is true. Russ has gotten worse in his "I am the greatest" attitude and in reality, his career has been in a downward slide for a year or so. If Russ wants to keep this job, he is going to have to come off his high hoarse and work a little harder on having new materials, bits, etc. I don't know if he will be able to do this.
