HMMM tell that to a guy in SE Texas, Richard Reeder, who was drunk and loved handguns and shot a good friend (who he called his brother) in the neck.......3 years later, his "brother" is winning a $6 MILLION lawsuit for making him a quadraplegic, leaving Reeder without a penny (he was extremely weathly before). Of course Reeder blames his lawyer, his friend, etc..not the bottle and his using it for all that!!!!! Even pumched out his lawyers over it and they are sueing him....

Russ better get his act together. Sooner or later the debris that CBS has for management will eventually grow some balls and oust his ass. Russ you're not a multi talented entertainer just a little boy getting paid big bucks by other little boys than run the corporations.

If this had been Ron Chapman I would be laughing my ass off. At the height of his popularity my office chose his station for the communal radio because he was the least likely to offend anyone. His bland music programming and Branson-esque radio humor made my work life hell. I am more sympathetic to Russ, although I'm not a big fan.

Uhhh yeah... I find it ironic that someone who claims to have access to the story, but then fails to really explain it. The spinning of the story is questionable. If you really have access to what you claim really happened, then post it. Or are you sworn to secrecy as well?

I value my career and my relationships with those involved. I know the basics of what happened. I also respect them enough to let them release the info they deem fit. Smart guy.

I will let the speculation cease, however if he really did beat on his woman then he is a coward.

Being in such a high market with a strong following is a privliage, it does not give anyone the right to break the law or be an asshole even in the slightest fashion.

I see so many people in this thread justifing what this guy SUPPOSIDLY did, because of alcohol or depression. STILL DOESNT TAKEN THE FACTA WAY THAT HE DID SOMNETHING TO LAND HIM BEHIND BARS.

I will for one wait till I see or hear proof. I will give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but if the shoe fits.

Me personally... I dont care who you are, you get CONVICTED (not arrested) on something that serious you are finished.

Tha mans issues SHOULD IN NO WAY be a cop out for justification of his actions.

I posted this in another thread, but it should be said here as well:

To state about Mr. Martin: We dont know the whole story. If it did happen as it was reported, then he will be judged in a court of law and held accountable for his actions. If it did not, then it will be handled accordingly as well. One thing that hasnt been seen, or even asked, in any of the comments in that in alot of these types of cases (alleged domestic disputes), it that it is being generated/initiated by a jilted/angry partner(GF/BF,Spouse,Lover,ect..). I can speak from some level of experience on this as my brother was in a similar issue some years ago with a jealous girlfriend who in actually attacked him with little to no provication. Lets not forget that in this situation and keep that as a potential factor in our thoughts on this issue.

The only appropriate thing to do is suspend Martin, with pay, while the investigation runs its course. Then if the allegations lead to a trial, you change it to suspension without pay. Then if the court finds Martin guilty, you fire him. During the suspension, you do not broadcast any of Martin's material. Not even best-of shows.

Regarding 5515’s posts, if you value your career, etc, as much as you claim, then maybe you shouldn’t be posting anything about this situation. Your identity could be blown and then you might get fired.

First, I have not seen anything credible that says it was his girlfriend he assaulted. As mentioned here earlier, he is already wearing his jumpsuit in the mugshot and he is going back on the air Monday. (assuming this is true.)

I have heard him say many times "everything" is a bit. Yes, maybe he was arrested. No way did he do anything that is going to put him away. Even if he did, he has so many "friends" in law enforcement he could certainly "work something out." I understand that's hard for some of you to swallow. Again, assuming he is coming back Monday, there is no way he could go on the air after something like that. Not even Russ Martin.

Live 105 needs the publicity right now. P&K are out and RMS seems to be a little stale lately. Russ is a smart guy. You don't get to that level of success without smarts. This was all planned. Look at these message boards. The P&K article has 200 replies and 11,200 views. I have never seen anything like that. This RMS thread will probably get just as much attention, if not more.
