Russ Martin indicted

He'll have to pay the 4 grand in fines and court costs. Do 2 years probation and forget his CHL. He will be lucky to keep any handguns because this may fall under the laughtenburg(sp) amendment. Anyways, if he pleads no contest or guilty he wont have his CHL anymore. He will stay on DFW radio. Eat it, for all those that hate him.

True. He'll stay on DFW radio for now. But this event and the resulting indictment have to take some toll on his bargaining power with CBS. Or the future owner of the station if CBS goes through with the sale of their radio properties. And don't put it past management to gleefully use this against him in any future dealings.

Mr. Martin has been indicted on a three-count, Class A misdemeanor complaint. He faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $4,000.

So you're the judge and jury now? ::) It must be nice to be so clairvoyant. Care to tell me how the presidential election will turn out? Wouldn't want to waste my time voting. ::) ::) ::) ::)

If he does time and pays what he makes working in a day, then so be it. It'll get real fun once the civil case begins...

I noticed on the blog that someone said Russ had mentioned Amy earlier in the week on a live show. He also wondered that just because she was mentioned, had they gotten back together. I truly hope she will not be that goofy to do that after all the press this has gotten.

What is your point? Really? You entire response is pointless. ::)

Its typical that if someone is sentenced to one year in jail that they will do two years probation. That's how the system works. Yes he will probably have to pay 4 grand in fines for a charge like this. I doubt they will make him pay anything less. What makes you think he will face anything more on a Class A misdemeanor.

As for the election, McCain wins.

Sorry, my sarcasm went over your head ::) How do YOU know what Mr. Martin will face in fines and sentenence? Do you know what is in the judge, jury and attorney's minds? You're just speculating (like the rest of us) unless you happen to be a judge in Tarrant county.

No matter how he pleads, Russ is going to lose listenership. A trial is going to provide some interesting peeks into his life. Taking a plea, guilty or no contest, will prove the old adage "where's there's smoke there's fire" or in his case, an explosion. ;D

Secondly, I'd love it if Mr. Martin would plead guilty or no contest to the charges. I would gladly listen to his show again to hear him try to explain that.

It's obvious that favoritism is being shown Russy because of his closeness with the local PD in Southlake. The three lesser charges will likely result in an even lower plea. I would not be surprised to see the outcome be an entered guilty plea to one or two charges in the Class C area with a minimal fine and 6 months probation.

He'll walk on this but he has to know, without his CHL all that smack-talking will have to cease and desist lest someone check him on that glib tongue of his.

Why would that be interesting? They hate him, they'll go negative. They'll slam him. What a surprise. They need to concentrate on doing a show, and develop some mediocre talent at least. As for Russ. No jail time, lots of community service, police fund raisers, operation kindness, a 100 dollar fine, and a waving of the "no no " finger.
Nothing like justice and that's nothing like it.

All I have to say is this: He'll get off easy, compaired to other guys and women in similar situations. I think celebrity plays a huge part in him getting a slap on the wrist when he should've done time...

I have seen this story now on several local news outlets, radiodailynews.com etc. Kinda strange that as soon as the indicment hits the news Russ starts to mention "Amy" being with him at home over the weekend. Have they reconciled or is this a smokecreen (aka damage control)?

My observations from the outside. Russ has reconciled with "Amy." Being an abused woman, she is the type who will give second (3rd, 15th?) chances to her abuser. Being reconciled, she wants her man to have a paycheck. She probably isn't willing to testify.

The legal system is not giving Russ celebrity treatment. Assuming "Amy" isn't willing to testify, this will be a tough case, even on the lower misdemeanor counts. For the system to be moving forward is an indicator that the judge doesn't want RM to get off scott free.

Two weeks after the arrest, management at CBS was telling people confidently that all charges would be dropped. Typically for management at CBS, they were wrong.

Whatever happens at this point, RM's defenders should understand that his celebrity doesn't count for anything in this case. The fact that the case is going forward without "Amy's" testimony means RM's in the crosshairs of his judge.

105.3 has more to worry about than the whole Russ thing. They are moving all departments but programming over to Fitzhugh by the 13th of October. And no date has been set to move programming.

I can see it now. "Oh, I am so sorry Russ. I was forced for file a police report!" You know, this is really disappointing if they have gotten back together. I wonder what her parents think of the reconciliation. So sad. :(

Its true most abused spouses ,stay. Amy is caught up with the "glitz, glamour" of a media personality. She knows who buys her expensive clothes, shoes, travel, etc, etc. She will refuse to testify, though Southlake arrested him on what they themselves saw and heard. He will be a media person, shown to give back to the community, first time arrest, etc etc. He will not serve time.
