Heck I find it interesting, that when one trashes Russ, there is a new nic, or nics who suddenly appear and defend him ( present company excluded and proud)

An interesting observation from someone who registered their nickname yesterday. I've used the same one here for well over five years, and I agree that there have been new posters who appear whenever the RMS is discussed. But can you unequivocally state that you have never posted under multiple usernames?

ok, i've been a member for a long time. i like the RMS. stern sucks. everything else on KLLI sucks. the ticket will come through all of this and be better for it. KRLD is a good news station. music radio sucks. and do the DT's play tonight?

Your comments are appreciated, WhiplashChick. I even agree with most of them, e.g., Russ Martin can still have his moments. But if you'll "note the quote" you may see that I wasn't questioning one-time "RMS fan" users or lurkers. It was directed to perennial posters who assume multiple identities and somehow assume that the rest of us aren't sharp enough to catch on.

I agree, Russ Martin's day are pretty much over in Dallas. Maybe Russ should join up with that J. R. guy who always calls in and whines about his job.

If being #1 in your time slot means your days are pretty much over...then yes. And for the record, I talked to Russ twice...and don't remember talking about anything other than Dan Lewis both times...so other than that...you're absolutely correct.

Not to pick nits, but the adjective is a bit superfluous. The word is curmudgeon, thank you very much. Maybe that's why I still enjoy some of what I hear on the Russ Martin Show.

I was once a very loyal RMS listener but in late 2006 maybe early 2007 he sort of became an old man who bitches about everything. It just became boring. It's always the same thing every day. His bar. His band. His girlfriend. I could no longer tell when it was a new show or a rerun.

If I wanted to listen to a bitchy old man I'd go visit my father.

I tuned out around the same time as you. For years I would tune in every day at 3 (well after Why Today Doesn't Suck on the Ticket then RMS would start right after that)...

But I can't even remember the last time I changed the dial to 105.3 from 3-7. Part of the problem is he surrounds himself with less talented people every day and he demands less and less of JD every day.

Trey is a waste, and the fact that this guy came back is mind boggling let alone he seemingly plays such a big role in the show now.

Russ is completely surrounded with Yes-men sychophants now and Russ really is living an alternate reality where he can do no wrong.

One thing I can't stand is Trey's "drunken rants". He is a bad actor even over the phone. And just how many times will Gavin fall for the hidden microphone in David Henry's office? Ugh. I am paraphrasing here but earlier this week Russ asked Gavin something about KRLD and Gavin said something like "it's tanking" or something like that. Did anyone else pick up on that?

His show is rather boring normally to me. I did enjoy the day he played KEGL stuff for an hour over there on 105.3 with the PD bitching all the way. Now that was hillarous!

RM's trending does not really indicate he's the strong one in Dallas, but at least Russ makes you think that. People who call in on his show, appear on his show and work for his show know it is about the only way they can ever appear on the air in Dallas. Take them out of that element and they would never have a show in Dallas, except maybe for the 1kW AMs dotted across the Dallas area. RM's M.O. is to ridicule most and embarass the rest. Cerebral content is not his forte nor will it ever be. Sad you are a groupie for him, JR.
