Russ Martin, Syndication!! could that really happen.

Once in a while when the sirius is not with me, i listen to Russ, and i've heard him talking to Gavin about syndication, and Gavin always replies, We're working on it.. WHAT Russ Martin Syndicated?? in what world. Can he really survive out of DFW.. he tried Austin, that didn't work Do you think Russ martin could actually get syndicated??

To be honest, it wouldnt work, he's too entrenched with this market, he'd have to switch to include actual material, not muting the microphone to tell a joke.

I could see it working in podunkville, but that's it. In other words, if they want to syndicate the RMS to Abielene, Tyler, San Angelo, etc, small stations that are already carrying some other syndicated stuff (ABC radio) might change-

But there's not a lot of money in that- and as Slam noted, he's too Dallas-centric (and way to Russ Centric) to translate well to another major market...

I doubt the Tyler and smaller markets of the world would want that kind of material on the air. Poop bits dont play well in smaller markets

It won't happen. He failedin Austin as noted ,he would fail in Dumas, Texas. Hes not marketable outside of here.

But would he fail in corpus is the question ;)

What a brilliant move that was. The RMS in decidedly hip Austin. Been there, done that, but nobody bought the t-shirt.

Bad ideas all around, courtesy of Gavin Spittle. Austin is too eclectic for russ and his Pleasant Grove white trash sensibilities, why they thought he would bring in the numbers against an actual established drive-time host like Jeff Ward is beyond me. I guess thats the CBS thinking that also though David Lee Roth would make a great AM drive host is the same idiocracy that got Russ on in Austin.

The bigger question is this: Why dont they dont syndicate Jeff Ward in Dallas?? The guy would blow most of the 3-7 drive out of the water. Id rather listen to him than those loudmouths Sean Hannity or Mark Levin

isn't it enough that this state has already unleashed george w bush on the world? can't it please just end there?

i did a bit of research and it seems that his audience is really small, but they listen a lot (or say they do). in a ppm world, or even a small market enviornment...are there no other choices? why is this guy even a topic of conversation?

Because he's an attention slut, maybe?

I really think the show is on life support right now. actually the whole station is on life support. The only survivor will probably be Jagger..I dont listen but he seems to understand what the audience wants. Russ is relying on Loyal listeners, no way new listeners in another town would stand that show.

I have to agree. A couple of weeks ago, Gavin said KRLD was a sinking ship. Heck, 105.3 isn't much better. But Russ does have is money and he does have loyal listeners who prop him up. What does he care?

Makes me wonder what kinda changes are in store when the PPM comes on board. If artificially inflated TSL goes away...could be leaner times for Russ and the Ticket guys too.

I may not be in the know, but the few times I've heard R. Martin, it sounded like some high school kids laughing and goofin off, I never get the joke, but, his buds in the background are constantly laughing, at what?

Said the man (Gavin) who sank said ship. Why his incompitence has been rewarded with contract extensions is beyond me...CBS Radio Dallas needs to clean house and get rid of 'em all.

Now he's screwing with Jagger for content on his wack ass show. He better stick with the hillbillies that listen to him in Dallas that are easily entertained by dead air, screaming in studio, and set up "angry" voice mails.

I have a feeling 105.3 will flip by end of 2008, wonder where that'll leave russ and his friends? They could always get a job at the Exxon with Rick Beamer.

After reading your posts, I must ask the same question. Your experience is what? You guys are captains of the 12+ ratings, whiich nobody looks at. So, Russ will be gone in a year? Who wants to throw down cash? Furthermore, the show did very well in Austin, per the ratings. The problem was the dip PD running things.

Please post your radio experience so I know the expertise from which you speak.
