Russ must be hurting for cash

I was watching the Auto Auction on Speed channel, and guess who's
Batmobile and Mach 5 were going on the auction block

Yup, I asked a "friend" of his and he confirmed that Russ did indeed sell the cars
less than a month ago, and that buyer has already taken them to the auction to sell again.

Russ must have unloaded them cheap for the guy to think he was going to profit on them
even though that auction gets top dollar no matter what LOL

Just a fun fact......

If I remember right he had talked several times on air previous to the The Fan blowing, that he was gonna sell some cars off, specifically the Mach 5 and possible a Batmobile too.

How is this not a gossip thread? ::)

What's next?? Ron Chapman leases a new Lexus?? Since when is this a board regarding has-been radio personalities and their rides??

I've never known Chapman to do a daily talk show where 99% of his life was his constant topic on the air. Besides, comparing someone like Chapman against someone like Martin, is like trying to compare apples and oranges. It's not like Chapman got arrested for something like beating Nancy.

So you really think that person was suggesting that people should obsess over Ron Chapman in the same was that people obsess over Russ Martin? Wow. Maybe I'm missing something, but that seems to be what you're response was driving at.

Former radio personalities used cars on Gaston ave. Our cars (like their former owners) have run out of gas,but its cash savings for you. The Russ scumbucket Faux 5 only 199 a month or 3 Euros,we'll even throw in one Batmobile <Green Hornet Black beauty not permissible in Ellis, Palo Pinto or Tarrant county>. Chapman's corvette (formerly owned by the GM of Sirius)..only 200 a month complete with one year of XM-Sirius !!, Dick Siegle's 1957 Chevy Bel air. with great mono am radio and we'll even include a 1967 bell helecopter!! so come see us!! Former Radio Personalities used cars "If they are not on the air, we'll lower the fare"

Yeah I know. i wonder why all of us are keeping this topic alive ? After this ,let it wither away like the person who inspired the topic.

Man you people on this board are stupid. He said several time he was going to sell one of his TWO Batmobiles and the Mach 5 so he could buy The Munsters Koach. If you actually listened to the show you would know and not just be assuming things. Its funny everyone on here thinks he was a no talent but funny thing is he was on the air as no one here is. They are only on a stupid topic board. He made a whole lot more money on the air than any one here. ;D But yeah he had no talent. That is just stupid.

You're right shucks. Perhaps some panhandlers on the streets of Dallas could donate an hours worth of their time and beg for their favorite station...or maybe Russ :D

Everyone sure that was one of Russ' batmobiles that sold? This one was signed by every living cast member from the original series - never heard Russ mention having that on one of his cars, and I can't imagine he would have failed to mention it.

Sorry Joe1313. to paraphrase Oliver Stone, the measure of a man is not the size of his wallet.

But doing what he did after Stern left the egal, and having the TOP RATED SHOW for that many years is a pretty good measure ;). So in turn it showed in the size of his wallet so yeah in his case and in radio the size of the wallet is the measure of a man. If your the best your get paid the best. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

And as I have said many times before, he isn't coming back to air again, at least not in this market anyway.

Yes we know you have said it many times and that doesn't make it any more true. He will be back on air in this market and then what will you do? Oh same thing you do now. Piss and moan.

I notice how you completely skipped over my question of would you hire Russ if you could. So who's gonna hire him in this market? Forget KEGL, like CC would have put him on the air there to begin with. We can also rule out CBS, obviously. Cumulus...? I wonder which of those stations would even consider hiring Russ.

Russ will not be back in DFW because of the simple fact that he let his fame get to him and wound up getting arrested for a serious crime. Even if he squeaks by the judicial system, he's damaged his chances of ever working in this market agaain. He's too much of a risk PR wise, and who wants to pay him 7 figures? In this economy?

Some of you must not have business management and PR experience on your resume.

I've been trying to stay out of this but I have to get scrtr84's back... Russ is not coming back. Terrestrial radio is a different animal now. Russ will not be hired locally... CBS doesn't want him, Clear Channel can't afford him (they just let 1800+ people go yesterday - many who had been on air in excess of 15 years). Cumulus won't hire him and even if they did where would they put him? The world is a different place today than it was when Russ was in his prime. FM talk and the day of the shock jocks has long since passed. And you can forget about syndication or satellite because his shtick won't work outside D/FW - it wouildn't even work in Austin, TX. So, quit insulting Mike and stop speaking of that which you know nothing about.
