David,
As someone who is just learning the "business" side of radio, can you explain briefly why a certain genre would be better represented by one sampling method than another?

The PPM, which measures real listening as opposed to memory, tends to show higher male use of radio. Part of this is apparently caused by more men in the workforce, and, thus, more commuting where radio is heavily used. Overall, the PPM shows the listening of males about 20% greater than that of women while the diary, where users often rounded listening periods, showd fairly comparable levels
So, male dominated formats that showed lower in the diary may look better in the PPM. Also, stations wilth lots of different listeners... high cume.. do better than low cume ones in PPM, since the PPm does not show any stations or formats with long listening periods. In PPM, long listening is 3.75 hours a week per listener, while in the diary it could be 9 to 10 hours.
On the other hand, the PPM picks up hearing as well as listening, extending the cume with many very short interval listeners... bringing listening time way down.

An even bigger question: where did the smooth jazz audience go?! XM or Sirius? It didn't go to Lite FM or Fresh apparently.

come on, K Rock has to stay. they may not kick too much ass, but they are heavier than rxp. rxp is good though... they're a lot like 1045 out of philly, except with more classic rock. i just installed an FMSS roof antenna on my Levittown (PA) house, and i can get 923, 1019, and 1043 when i have it turned correctly.
