David,

How was K-Rock's ratings during PPM's short run in New York?

2.1 12+ in both October and November... better than today's 1.3. Remember that the PPM was yanked so it could be "fixed" so the numbers were from a limited sample which was highly non-proportional demographically.

Just make 105.1 TOS cranking out from maine but in NYC... and 106.9 WCCC on some frequency in NYC..
Whoops wrong states  never gonna happen :'( I can dream ;)

Also don't overlook the fact that 92.3 WXRK is now down to a 1.3...this is the station that needs to go...how much longer can CBS keep this dog going?

come on, K Rock has to stay. they may not kick too much ass, but they are heavier than rxp. rxp is good though... they're a lot like 1045 out of philly, except with more classic rock. i just installed an FMSS roof antenna on my Levittown (PA) house, and i can get 923, 1019, and 1043 when i have it turned correctly.

So, you finally got a roof mounted antenna up? That's great. Sounds as if it's working well for you, too!

i love the thing. works great, for 15.95 on ebay w/ 11$ shipping, i would go as far as saying its the best money ive ever spent.

new Emmis rocker WRXP (101.9) falls from 2.7 (as WQCD) to a 1.6 (as the startup "Rock Experience")

Same thing goes with WBPM in the Hudson Valley listening area, WRXP is going to sound a lot like WDST in Woodstock, NY and mostly WBPM at 92.9. WRXP is going down the drain if this happens again, they should go back to Smooth Jazz CD 101.9 by 2010.

It's kinda refreshing that a company decided to cater to a smaller audience; one could assume that they knew they weren't going to pull a 6.0 12+ with this format looking at WXRK's numbers. Wouldn't it be great if radio tried to intentionally serve a smaller audience every once and a while?

An even bigger question: where did the smooth jazz audience go?! XM or Sirius? It didn't go to Lite FM or Fresh apparently.

They went to WBGO, 88.3 FM from Newark. BGO is a lengendary Jazz station, been around for decades, and people tune into its webstream from around the globe.

Somehow I doubt that the CD 101.9 audience went to Jazz 88. "Smooth Jazz" CD 101.9 really wasn't very much of a "jazz" station...Phil Collins is not jazz!!! And you won't hear Phil Collins or any of the lite AC-type music that 101.9 played on 88.3.
