Granted, Kevin & Bean and the former Jaimie & Danny shows had music, but it was just filler for the real show that being the personalities and their bits. CMIIW but morning shows are the show first and the music (if there is music) last.AnimatronicAbeLincoln said:Don't hire expensive, superstar talent if the music is the star.
If all I wanted was the music I'd listen to XM and/or Sirius. :-*
P.S.: Danny's show on WYSP (available via WinAmp) has no music.![]()
Remember, KIIS is a MUSIC station. Always has been and the morning show has always played MUSIC. If I'm not mistaken you're confusing Ryan’s show with TALK SHOWS. Everyone thinks that a morning show has to be a music free talk show just because Howard Stern made it popular some 20 years ago, but you can relax, you've just been conditioned like Pavlov's dog to believe that music detracts from the morning show on a music station. Wrong of course. If you can recondition yourself to actually enjoy a song or two you may find that you like it. Maybe the show’s host or hosts can actually be more succinct thereby creating better content for their show. If not there's always a talk station waiting for your possible PPM participation.
Look, KIIS is seeing major erosion with AMP breathing down their neck and has made a decision to combat this loss of audience. Since AMP is wall to wall music in the morning and is showing gains, they've made the call for a more focused show to get a few more songs in every hour. Ryan is just like every other jock in the CC stable and as such has to get used to the fact that he isn’t running KIIS. But hey, at his rate of income improvement and the price of stations going down with the economy he may get a shot at buying one of his own.
