Sad News

Mike's passion for the radio profession was indeed evident in his posts to this forum. He was cordial to all and put things in a way that was understandable to all who were reading the thread. God speed Mike, and may he bless your family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I actually emailed back and forth with Mike a couple of times. Seemed like a genuinely nice person.

The Houston radio community has lost an important supporter.

Very sad. Mike_O was one of my favorite posters in the history of radio-info. Not only did he have tremendous knowledge and passion for radio, you could tell by reading his posts that he was a good and decent man.

I too am in shock. As former Business Manager of News 24, Mike was a very strong supporter of the station...we communicated by phone and email quite often but never got to meet in person. I had arranged a tour of the facility with him but on the scheduled day, his father was ill and Mike had to cancel. At least I was able to send him a souvenir polo shirt and cap...tough loss as he spoke quite openly about what many of us thought. My sympathies to his family.

I'm sorry to hear this. Please pass along my condolences.

My condolences and prayers for Mike's family and friends.

I always enjoyed reading Mike's thoughtful and well-crafted responses to topics on this board.

I will surly miss Mike's posts, he explained everything very clear to anyone who could understand it. Please send my condolences and prayers for Mike's family.

We have lost a great mentor and friend.

To Mike's family and to all who were close to him, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

This is a tragic loss. I always read Mike's posts first because I know they will be insightful, intelligent and accurate.

Condolences to his family and all who were close to him. Gone way before his time.

WOW! I cannot believe what I read at the top of this thread!!! I never Mike but he did seem to have a lot of knowledge in broadcast theory and engineering...and I have been in/out of the biz for 30+ years! I am shocked to hear about his sudden death....and I am only 7 years behind him!! Did he or his family have a history of heart trouble or was this totally out of the blue? (An old friend of mine in Austin passed away at the early age of 42 some years ago....just died while sitting listening to a lecture....Ron had been very athletic and always on the go...his death was a sudden shock to those who knew him as well...and a sobering reminder to all of us).

Chuck, please pass along the condolences of the list and all of us in SBE and other professional trades to Mike's family. His posting will surely be missed (BTW what was his line of work? WAS he in radio?? If so, I never met him...wish I had now!)

I will pass it along. However, many of his freinds and family came here to read about Mike's posts on Radio-Info. Several never knew about Radio-info.com and now they do. His lady freind, Diane wrote to tell me about it. She also shared some funny stories about Mike and her. I really wanted to go to his services today, but I was in meetings and the ENCO on air system is giving us the fits.

Mike O was the real deal: He did his homework, and always had an intelligent comment to provide. Mike came to visit us shortly after we launched the BizRadio Network; he had nothing but support for us, and offered a few interesting ideas. I always read his posts with interest.

Radio lost a friend in Mike, and I think we're all going to miss what he had to contribute to our wacky business. Chuck, thanks for passing along the difficult news.

It is very sad to hear of the passing of Mike. Although I did not know him, I read his posts and always enjoyed them. He sounded like a real radio lover. Now, hopefully, he is with the greatest voice there is or ever will be, he's listening to the voice of GOD!

I was going thru some past topics looking for a particular post, ran across this post and realized that it has been 4 years since we lost Mike_O. Thought I'd resurrect the thread just to say thanks again, and the board does miss your presence.
