SAGA INVADES OHIO????

If Media One does buy Sandtown, it will be the THIRD time they have owned it. They had it in the 80's and sold it, bought it back in the early 90's and sold it again in '97 to Jacor.

Was that the same company headed by Jim Embrescia of Cleveland?

Yeppers Nate. He has really done a lot for the stations in Jamestown since he bought them

Judging by this 2002 press release, Media One is headed by both Jim and Tom Embrescia, and Lee Zapis. Who if I'm correct, was head of Zapis Communications, owner of WZAK/93.1 (and whose father Xenophon Zapis, founded both WZAK and WXEN, today WMVX)

If Elyria-Lorain isn't involved with buying the CC Sandusky cluster, this really looks to be a potentially good group here. Even though they would end up owning WLEC/WCPZ for a third time... ;)

Normally I would agree and say this doesnt make sense. But then again, we are talking about Bas Communications. Here is the deal. BAS wants WTTF. If they get WTTF, WMJK it will make for a stronger Fremont/Tiffin Cluster which is exactly what they are going for. WOHF s a red headed step child because they like Sandusky, but realize its just not the direction they are headed. Owning Sandusky and Seneca Counties is their goal!

Just like in Mount Vernon. All they want to do is own Knox County.

I don't know where you get your information, but lets say you're a baseball player. From everything I've read, you're so far off base on all of your information, you're in the wrong ballpark. You know nothing about BAS or the difference between MJK's signal and the signal of THE WOLF. Also, why on earth would anyone want TTF. It doesn't cover Seneca County. It only covers Tiffin.

Aren't WMJK and WOHF's both 3000 watts? From where I live, (not Sandusky County, but an adjacent county) they both come in about the same.
Also, WTTF's FM station reaches a lot further than Tiffin. Again, I'm able to pick it up pretty clearly, and I live 45-50 minutes away.
I believe WTTF AM powers down at night, and can't be heard too far outside the city limits.

I get WCKY whenver there's even the slightest band opening way down in the Springfield area and even further south. They've got a kick-ass signal.

Great to hear that I dont know anything. I have 2 inside sources from 2 dthat BAS is trying to pick up a few stations in the area known as Seneca County. Last time I checked that would be Tiffin Ohio (WTTF-AM). Of course WCKY is for sale and maybe they plan on purchasing that station, but do you think they are going to plop down the 5 Million Clear Channel is asking for WCKY/WPFX? Maybe they will, who knows.

So, please..this board is not meant to accuse anyone, this is only a site where we post what we hear on the street.

WOHF is 6kw and WMJK is 3kw. There is a new station in the Wood county area that has gone on the air recently at 92.1 and it's playing K Love. This has most certainly cut down on the receivable signal from WOHF in that area. WOHF's 60dbu contour ends at the Sandusky county line to the west around the Route 23 area.

WOHF is a 6000 watt station and WMJK is a 3000 watt station. If you have the chance, pull both stations up on Radio Locator. WOHF is licensed to Bellevue, Oh. and WMJK is licensed to Clyde, Oh.. Once you see the local signals you will see why WOHF has a superior signal into Sandusky. In a car, you don't hear much difference with the naked ear. The towers are about 4 to 5 miles apart. As far as WTTF. The FM ( WCKY ) has a monster signal. The station I mentioned yesterday was the AM not the FM.

Hey Kentucky, I apologize. I wasn't trying to insult or accuse anyone of anything. Let's make sure the information posted is accurate. As far as what you hear on the streets. As my dad used to say, "Don't beleive anything you hear and only half of what you see !" I know this from good sources.

Hi Jimbo-

I didnt mean to be harsh, its been a rough week here at the office. I am just anxious to see how it all shakes out, I just heard that there is a company bidding against Saga on the entire state. So right now, who knows whats going to happen next.

I am really excited to see what happens in Cleveland with the required spin off. I would assume it will go to a Akron company only because of its Brecksville Tower, but then again maybe Elyria-Lorain will want that?

I know that an independant group from Cinci, who LMA's WDJO/Oldies 1160, are POSSIBLY looking at picking up some CC spinoffs. Not a lot. A few. Mostly in the Tr-State area, which includes Indiana, Kentucky and OH.

Any new news on Ohio CC selloff's? What about anyone doing due diligence? A perspective buyer would visit the market they intend to buy...any new faces showing up?

Neither WMJK or WOHF have a 60dbu contour which reach Tiffin. Kind of hard to serve a community where you cannot provide more a distant signal at best. Also WMJK is part of the Sandusky cluster already and has an identity and marketing presence there. Why tehn also would WOHF bill itself as Bellvue/Sandusky?

WMJK Already blasts crystal clear down below Mansfield. It's marketing presence serves Norwalk, Bellevue, & all the way into Tiffin(ads have run on there for businesses in Tiffin)...that was even the case when they were still a mini Majic). The tower is in a cornfield in Clyde.
