The only on-air person in Lafayette that desrves a decent salary is Randy Jones because he is the only one that has any personality onair and rapore with his listeners. If youre one of the few talkents thats got that youre worth every penny that a station would give you. Not counting wglm now.

I will humbly disagree. Bob Vizza is/has been/always will be THE music jock in Lafayette

This rj did no mounding for San Diego! on the other hand i hear that he sounds like king charming onair but behind the scenes hes not the best dimeenor. who knows.

RJ's a good guy. Good family guy.

Randy was a nice guy (at times) When i worked with him. At the same time, I was always afraid that he was the type of guy that would take his shirt off before fighting....you know what I mean?

No argument there. I've known Bob for 30 years. He's one of the most genuine, professional air talents in the bidness.

No argument from his boss either. Bob Vizza is the most talented air personality that I have worked with in my 18 years of broadcasting.

When you listen from 3-7 on 105.3, that's the standard to go by if you want to be the best.

I knew Bob in the 70's and he was a great guy then too. Monticello and Rensselaer.

Every other boss he's had will say the same thing. The guy can make you quiver reading a PSA....When I grow up I want to be Bob Vizza.

Dont mean to sidetrack and make a Vizzaman thing out of this boardstring but ive always loved Bobs onair but i cant listen now because of all that whiney haw haw haw country stuffin. Id almost rather listen to the B 'morning show.'

Now just kiddin.

The "Randy Jones pitching for the Padres" comment made my day! He was a Cy Young winner, too, I believe!

A bunch of jocks, former and working, critiqueing current jocks and their salaries and off-air personalities:
a loaded pistol I'm walking away from quickly now. LOL

But thanks for the salary information as I started this snowball rolling.

No not really I'd waste too much time taking the shirt off, maybe if you'd have shown up on time for your shift you wouldn't have put yourself in a "situation." I'm just sayin'.

cut the crap folks randall jones is on the string+ now if we could just get the vizzaman this would be like selebrity corner

Love it when the personal crap spills over on the boards.

Now go to your separate corners, girls...

:)

What would make you say something like that? What seems to be the real issue here? When discussing a jocks salaries or hourly wages I think work related performance on and off the air helps determine ones value. For someone showing up for their shift late on a consistant basis shows that their value is going to have a negative effect on their pay. Ultimately it may also have a negative effect on the person they are supposed to take over for.

Obviously you're being glib because you have some sort of personal history with the person who made the "shirt" comment. That's why I would say something like, "take it outside" or "resolve it on your own".

But in principle I agree with you: "Yes! Showing up late causes you to lose your job and hurts the company!"

And will I be right back here to check for more comments related to your slap fight with this guy? Well, you bet!

And if you love Bob Vizza, then this is the board for you

If you love money, this is the wrong business to be in.

I respect your opinion, mine differs. This actually goes for any job it really depends on what you put into it, how much knowledge you have of the business. There are rewards in broadcasting and they come in many forms. True if you just want to come in, do a shift and leave you probably won't earn a great number of dollars. If you apply yourself the outcome will yeild results.

But mostly, if you apply yourself and if you are the smartest jock in the world, you still get shown the door for no reason.

The handful of guys who are still at it with the same company for 20 years are exceptions to the rule, not the norm.

You're only as rich and employed as your current gig in a long line of stops for most guys.
