SAN FRANCISCO & SAN JOSE ARBITRON RATINGS: APRIL 2011

The 95.7 Sports is killing the frequency, only a 0.9 compared to a 4.4 for KNBR!

Well I won't be listening - I'd rather listen to paint drying than sports talk on the radio. But maybe you should give it some time. How long has it been on the air - 5 weeks? And there has been no advertising for the station that I have seen - not even on transit buses. KNBR has been a habit for Bay Area sports fans for over 20 years.

The success of KCBS all news on 106.9 FM doesn't mean a sport talk will be successful. KNBR is like an icon for sports around the Bay.

It's way too soon to tell if Sports Radio 95.7 will be a success. No station can be a smashing success only five weeks after a flip! 95.7 is still building its base!

Yes, KNBR is the go to station for sports in the Bay Area and has been for many years. That doesn't mean there isn't room for a well programmed and marketed competitor. Just being on FM won't assure KBWF success as a sports station. They have to make themselves at least a good second choice to KNBR. :)

Although on FM, 95.7 doesn't have the coverage footprint to knock off KNBR. The most successful format there so far was Z-95, and they couldn't knock off K101 (now Star.) It's just not a very good signal.

106.9 isn't a great signal either...And they've picked up a ton of listeners!

The signal is adequate at 95.7 !

Think if they had stuck with Z-95.7, there probably would be no NOW/99.7, but that's hindsight!

The bottom-line is that up to now, they haven't been putting the right product on the air...And until they do, nada!!

Don't think Sports/Sports Talk will work, but who knows??

95.7 people...If you're reading this?

Bring back Energy...Energy 95.7...The market is there in the Bay...92.7's little signal had quite the following...With a much better signal, bet Dance would really fly!

Unfortunately IIRC the "Energy" sobriquiet in SF was sold to the new owner of 92.7 (I think that was at Wells Fargo's insistence). It would have to be something else or be bought back from same.

Also the people who know how to make the dance format work all either work for Clear Channel or CBS now, with the possible exception of Joey V.

The dance format is not anything that a corporate owner seems willing to stake a Market-4 FM on. Pity because it was doing some decent business.
