Savannah: 100.1 sold to local broadcast group

I'm totally confused on L&L, Adventure, and Triad. Who is what and what is who?

Regarding 100.1 - Would have been an awesome location for them to have left their tower in the Statesboro area and went 100k from that point. They would have a signal for Hilton Head/Savannah/Hinesville/ Vidalia and possibly even Dublin if the 100k watter has the height.

They had to move out of Statesboro to get the 50kw so they definitely would not have been able to go 100kw there.

i could have swore they were 50k when they were in Statesboro. If I remember correctly, WMCD 100.1 was 50K and WPMX 102.9 was (and still is) the 25k station.

This is what I was thinking, although I was not clear on details. Unfortunately, one cannot put a 100-kW FM anywhere one wants. If it could be done, I'd have one in the next room!

WMCD/Statesboro was 50kw on a short (300') tower...the same one used by AM sister WWNS. It was 3kw for many years, increasing to 50kw in the early 90s. In the mid-70s, WMCD filed to increase to 100kw on 99.9. They were denied because their application conflicted with one for a new 100kw station on 99.7 at Port Royal, SC. Had WMCD proposed new, first local service (to maybe Brooklet or Twin City...any incorporated community with great population than Port Royal), it might have been granted. A proposal like this - in the days before C3s, C2s and C1s - was not unheard of...just very rare. When WMCD was sold to TAMA, it had a CP to increase to 100kw. TAMA apparently didn't have the bucks to construct a new tower, so they opted for 50kw, which would work from an existing tower. WPMX has been 25kw since it signed on in 1995.

Awesome! You seem to know your stuff around the boro...

I haven't been around in a few months so clue me in on two things:

1- WXRS - Are they doing the increase or not? They are suppose to move to Portal and go up in power but this has been in the makings for a while

2- WMCD is not 107.3, correct? What is the format? Online, it says they are "Hitz 107.3" but I've been told that Fox News is rebroadcast on the signal.
