Savannah: RIP Mix 102.1

It would have made more sense to at least moved Magic to 102.1, giving them the bigger stick & placing that much more pressure on Love & Beat. But yeah, I'm not in the business.

Moving Magic from 93.1 may seem wise, but is it really? It seems unwise to tinker with the thing that works best. The format is so closely associated with that station, that one might reasonably wonder whether audience backlash over such a change would cause both stations to flounder, possibly even founder. Like you, I am no longer in the business, but in my opinion, the only way the move would benefit Cumulus is if they shook up the entire cluster at one time; i.e., change every format at Noon on date certain and don't look back.

Magic is on C2 103.9.

So it is. My mistake. Thanks for the correction. Since that be the case, putting it on 102.1 does make a lot of sense. In fact ... Putting it on WZAT could strengthen the whole market for Cumulus. We civilians will never know, of course, but I wonder what drove the decision to flip 102.1 to the sports format. I still like the idea of shaking up the entire cluster, though. Call me an Anarchist if you must, but Savannah needs a shot in the arm. Or a kick somewhere.

Realistically, would switching Magic to 102.1 make a real difference? Probably not. More than likely it would cause some deterioration of ratings. Not wortyh the expense or the trouble.

As far as Savannah needing a swift kick in the ass....in many cases you are soooooo right!
