Now CC Raleigh has a country station creeping up in the ratings, an Urban AC, classic hits, and a CHR which is #1 12+. Not bad...and if he had anything to do with it, I would suspect Triad nabbed him to revamp the place, particularly everybody but 106-1 and 98.3.

Robbins was let go from CC Raleigh late summer/early fall 2006. HE and then GM Ken Spitzer killed off 22 year heritage classic rock WRDU and 15 year oldies WTRG. Tried to make the classic rock a classic hits - they killed it and now it's a country station.
The oldies station was #2 in the cluster of 4. #1 P45-54 and #2 P35-64. *Oldies is NOT a 25-54 format*
Robbins doesn't like "oldies". Doesn't get the format. And if the station is doing theme weekends, expect those to go by the wayside.
If he adds Bowie anywhere... run!
OK I suppose I have to respond...message boards are always a hoot. Mr VO Dood likes to follow me around and comment on how I killed his beloved radio stations in Raleigh (he got downsized and is still pissed--let it go man it's radio! Nothing personal)...the fact of the matter was that flipping Oldies WTRG was a Sales Play....many Oldies stations flipped including the Big Dog WCBS-FM. As far as killing WRDU, I am sorry but that station was dead when Buddy Scott and the PD decided to remove John Boy & Billy from WRDU and put them on the oldies stick WTRG to make room for Bob & Tom on RDU. John Boy & Billy ran off all the women on WTRG and all the men from WRDU followed JB&B over to WTRG--Bob & Tom never really resonated after a book or two. Talk about a FU...that one was classic. Combine that with an extremely burned and crispy classic rock library and you have the recipe for a Rooster which I cannot claim credit for.
Sometime VODood you yourself will be a PD instead of Mr. Microphone and we will all get to talk about you...let us know when you land that gig or when you write the Book on Programming Radio.
I am thrilled to be in Savannah/Hilton Head...we have a GREAT bunch of Radio people here. BTW, I love Oldies, I get the format and BIG 98 ain't going anywhere! We plan to kick ass and have FUN!
