SaveWRKO: Rumor (I stress, rumor) has WBZ cutting Leveille, Dyett

Could be true, might not be but the SaveWRKO blog says rumor has it WBZ has cut Steve Leveille
and Lovell Dyett. Again, this is not confirmed yet and for all we know could be totally not true.
SaveWRKO also says Tom Cuddy and Pat Desmarais would be gone too. We'll hope it isn't true.
Indeed may not be, but keep an eye out...the way things are going these days...

(CBS has def. whacked the aft talk host at WTIC)
No idea who Maloney's "inside source" is. He'd have to issue a major retraction if it proves to be false.

Discussion on the firing of the WTIC aft. talk host. Replaced with a news block (surprised they
didn't instead put on Hannity or even Howie Carr in that slot, but hey, it's local. Just local
news rather than local talk:

Again, would WBZ actually sack those 4 people at BZ or is it just a rumor? Maloney felt confident enough in
his source to run with it but I haven't found any word elsewhere about it. Otherwise, it's a scoop...

I just looked at the bio page for WBZ and Steve Leveille is not listed but the others mentioned still are.

So what will happen in the midnight to 5:00AM slot? Sign off for five hours? Back-to-back reruns of the previous evening's 7:00PM to 8:00PM news hour? Roy Masters? Brother Stair? Back-to-back infomercials?

I have heard a rumor that Stair would soon be gone from WWZN. Think he might be willing to swap WWZN's coverage of Finland for WBZ's coverage of a lot more of the US and Canada? I note that Masters is now on in the middle of the day on WBIX. If the price were right, he could cover a big piece of the US on WBZ overnight instead.

::).......almost inaudible........"I'm B'Bill K'Kelly.....this is the mutual fund show".............. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Just occurred to me: Stair and Masters could split the five hours. 'BZ could call it the Stair-Master program!

(Honestly--the pun didn't occur to me until AFTER I thought of their splitting the five-hour slot!)

They just had Diane Stern read the 3:45 sports report. Hmmm...

Maybe there is a God

I for one am so sick of Leveille's rants, political & otherwise, that I wish he would go away. He is way too full of himself; didn't used to be, but is now.

How reliable is the "rumor" on that website? :-\

Bad thing is, the replacement programming may be even worse...

I have heard from several people at the station that Leveille has some health problems. I wonder if that is contributing to rumours that he is being let go.

SNR is already back on 1510. Stair was paying 20G's a month for the Zone and 620 in NY. He was lucky if was getting 1,000G's back from listeners.

Since the cuts at power stations WLS,WHAS, the thought of 'BZ doing something like this crossed my mind often.
Some hints have been dropped by Steve but I don't want to get into that, at this point. The other morning though he mentioned ratings --very unusual-- and said he was killing?

If the radio industry looks to have any tradition left, certain time-slots should be spared from synd' on mega stations. If not, the medium becomes so degraded that it will suffer the consequences. There's no going back to the good old days, but it doesn't have to be 100% garbage either.

what talk host ISN'T full of him/herself? I think his show is excellent. If he's gone, I hope they won't put on crackpot programming. Good line on Stair-Master!

Just turned on BZ and Morgan is referencing Steve and did the 12:30 ID as "the Steve Leveille Radio Broadcast." So either he doesn't know (he had a very busy day) or BZ wants it done this way even though they altered the web page.

Did anyone hear Steve's 4:57 sign Tuesday? A "full of himself" guy would have said something. I gather
he said nothing.
Interesting that Cuddy is still on the webpage as you might think being a longtime vet he'd be making more money, if they were looking to dump salary.
DesMaris doesn't work much in the winter, with the Bruins on almost every Sat.evening. As for Lavell with the late and absent problems, he's fortunate to have made it '09.

The WBZ site still has Lovell Dyett but no sign of Steve. A websearch for Steve's pages on WBZ turns up
a 404 not found. His Geocities site is still up but no sign of any message from him etc.

Bradley Jay, Sun/Mon am? I'm convinced Morgan doesn't know.

Any chance they could keep late-night live? You would think syndication is almost a certainty.
I think Steve was plugging an upcoming guest Sun or Mon morning. If so, he likely didn't get the word till Tuesday and maybe not then either.

I guess the program schedule part of the WBZ site (under "about us") still lists Steve but he's gone from
the On The Air dropdown menu.
