SaveWRKO: Rumor (I stress, rumor) has WBZ cutting Leveille, Dyett

The fact that Steve didn't say anything may have been a management request-- some companies make it very difficult for you to say goodbye on air, if you wanna get a good severance package! I am not saying WBZ did that. I am just saying I've seen that happen-- in exchange for not causing a ruckus and getting listeners to call/write/picket/whatever, the host goes quietly, and the company makes it financially worth his (or her) while to do so.

That said, I'm a bit puzzled by Lovell Dyatt's firing-- wasn't he the only black talk host WBZ ever had, or did I forget one?

Apparently WTIC let Colin McEnroe do a last show after his firing--and mention he was leaving... (I wasn't familiar with his show but some Nutmeg State members of Free Republic were glad so I guess he was to the left...)

Morgan used to do Talking Trivia on WMRE ("Stay on top, 1510 WMRE") and WKOX and maybe a couple
other stations. He used to also do a show on gambling called Lady Luck. I used to have the graveyard
shift at post office and also kept those sleep schedule hours on the weekend when I was off; one time I headed out toward Framingham
near the end of his 'KOX show and joined he and other people from the show at a Natick breakfast place
called the Fox Trot.

There have been other trivia shows in the past, with the likes of 'Prof. Fustus von Goodwin'; Mel Simons'
appearances with Steve could be considered trivia though he'd disagree I think...And libertarian host
Rolleye James does Friday Night Trivia (she used to be on terrestrial radio but now is strictly on XM;
had done fill ins on Coast to Coast http://www.rollye.net )

Morgan White Jr is black.

would BZ radio save that much in Morgan White or Bradley Jay hosting the overnights than Steve?

They'll run syndicated programing overnight.

I just had confirmation from an inside source; They will be running syndicated programming out of St. Louis. I don't know what the program is, guess we'll find out come Monday. Jordan Rich will still be on the air. Steve didn't know about it until the day it happened, which was Wednesday.

Morgan may be on with Jordan from time to time.

Pat & Lovell is gone as well.

End of story... :'(

That is way so bad! And the station touted itself of being the only 24 hour local news/talk station too! Especially when there was that explosion in Danvers 2 years ago!

I went to his website to see if he had any comment, but his domain is no longer active. Thats a shame, it was a really good website and one that he put up on his own as well!

I'd noticed that too, the domain wasn't active but did a quick search and found the geocities version last night. I commented on SaveWRKO that the geocities site was still there but no update yet.

I have heard from several people at the station that Leveille has some health problems.  I wonder if that is contributing to rumours that he is being let go.

Oh goodness...cue up yet another 'discrimination' lawsuit if that's the case. If there's one thing that media 'talent' in radio and (especially) TV know, it's the discrimination lawsuit. They launch them like paper airplanes, essentially admitting that they have no talent to do any other job than the one that was 'unfairly' taken from them. If you want job security, become a discrimination lawyer specializing in local TV or radio.

Reminds me of when David Brudnoy was let go despite high ratings because he had aids, at least that was what was reported anyway.

This is sad, but not terribly surprising, news. I've enjoyed Steve Leveille and Lovell Dyett for years and will miss the live, local overnight show on WBZ. Unfortunately, Boston's probably heard the last of Lovell Dyett. I hope that Steve lands somewhere. He'd be a good morning drive guy on stations like WODS or WPLM, where his easy, avuncular manner would play well with the listening audience. I know he's done work on public radio as well.

As far as the CBS/Westwood One syndie replacement goes, I wonder if they are bringing in someone entirely new or are going to syndicate the existing overnight show on KMOX: http://www.kmox.com/pages/6598.php?contentType=4&contentId=99823. At first read, Graczak's show sounds as though its very much in the Leveille/Rich mold.

One other thing: Is Morgan filling in for the week or did they go with some sort of replay last night?
He was live. He mentioned Steve being off for the rest of the week, which is technically true.

David was fired the first time to cut costs and bring in Tom Snyder. I'm not sure he even had HIV at that point.

*Morgan will be on tonight and this time he'll know the programs status. He's smart enough to handle this the way management wants, I'm sure.

Jordan Rich will still be on the air.
I would think Joran's Fri/Sat morning airtime might be affected. But maybe his Sat/Sun 3-4 hours won't be, as well has the Sunday evening show that used to precede Steve's.

I was thinking the same thing in an email to someone--wouldn't Jordan be losing the Fri night shift?
But technically the way they were doing it was Steve L. Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thu nights (or
"early Mon, early Tue, etc.") and then Jordan on Fri and Sat nights (and I think he does late evening on
Sunday nights too). It's poss. the new CBS effort could be Sun through Thu nights, or "early Mon-early Fri"

I did a WHOIS search for radiosteve.com and found it's registered till Jan 26 of
2017! Oh, and whom to? WBZ Radio, 1170 Soldiers Field Rd...
So that'll have a 404 up for awhile (unless he tries to get it back)

Similarly I believe howiecarr.com is owned by entercom, etc.
