Schnitt Checking Out Of Tampa Completely

I'm hopeful they'll have live and local talent. (I wonder if Mark Larsen is thinking of coming out of retirement.)

My fear is that Sean Hannity goes live, or we're doomed to some other form of yet more syndication.

My other fear is that, if they decide to do the right thing and go local, listeners will get saddled with weekend-level talent instead of getting someone who's ready for prime time.

If the dude looking for a "co-host" has anything to do with CC or 970, then that's pretty pathetic. I emailed that guy just to give him a hard time, and he sent back an application, and requested that applicants submit a 60 second aircheck... no experience required... blah blah blah...

I think it's more likely that Sean Hannity will replace Schnitt, and something else syndicated will air at 6pm. CC has been moving in this direction for awhile now, their ultimate goal has been to automate all of their newstalk stations 24/7. It makes me very angry for some reason... oh well.

And I think that also means they won't kill off a music station to move it to FM.

Some interesting details from a story the Tampa Bay Times just posted:

The head of the company that syndicates The Schnitt Show, Peter Kosann of New York-based Compass Media, declined to comment on whether the program might land at another Tampa station.

Steve Versnick, program director for WFLA, declined to comment on why Schnitt's show is leaving the station's lineup or what kind of show might replace it. "Our search begins today; we're looking for the next local host on WFLA," he said. Versnick could not say what might fill Schnitt's 3 to 6 p.m. timeslot after Dec. 18. If the station follows past practices, options could include fill-in hosts or tryouts of prospective hosts.

News that the station is looking for a local host rules out the possibility WFLA might air Fox News host Sean Hannity's radio show live when he broadcasts it at 3 p.m. Currently, Hannity's show airs on WFLA at 6 p.m.

Unless Hannity airs at 3:00 and the new talent airs at 6:00.

I would doubt that since radio listening drops off considerably after 6p. Why pay talent when they know the majority of people aren't listening.

The more likely scenario could be Hannity 3-6, followed by Levin and then the new Savage(,ge,ge,ge.) Nation.

So do we conclude CC pushed him out of FLZ then pushed out of FLA ? I mean, something had to be up, after all those great years just not to want to guy in the building that quick

I was thinking the same thing. Like him or hate him, he's made the Tampa cluster a heck of a lot of money over the years. I read somewhere about him wanting more control over the show, so I am thinking CC might have been holding him back from something. Any idea if his staff will follow him?

You are drawing the wrong conclusion.

If a person is fired in radio, they have no access to the building, etc.

You are GONE!

Exactly, not many people get to actually have a final date. Most times, you are there one day and gone the next. I do remember Jerry Peatuck finished out his time at CC properly, and got a little sendoff at the end of his last show producing Big Dog. He was coy at the time why he was leaving a job he had been at so long, but now we all understand

Hey Cedric. You got it wrong. Nothing to do with Schnitt. However, I suspect that you think most things are pathetic. You had your chance to submit your audio tape but instead you make fun of it on the boards. Hmmm - who is being pathetic here? C'mon Cedric - show us if you got it. I'd love to hear from you.

Dont worry bout Cedric, He is just a caricature of a $8 per hour producer

That's right Cedric and Jerkyboy really knows what he is talking about. LOL!

Hey, Cedric:

i-Guy sounds to desperate. I think you are in the driver seat with this guy.

Hold out, I think he'll offer you stock in the company.

;D
