SCOTT ALLEN MILLER FAILS TO DISCLOSE WHOLE TRUTH

C

Casablanca

Guest
Scott Allen Miller on WRKO picked up on Howie Carr and tried to sandbag Deval Patrick on the old LaGuerre case.

Scotto withheld the information that Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella who resurrected this old issue is a Kerry Healey supporter and appears as a supporter of Kerry Healey on her campaign website.

Another unreportedin-kind campaign contribution to the Kerry Healey Campaign by WRKO/Entercom.

Scotto - tell the whole truth or get off the radio.

Since this is the radio portion of the board, I'll keep it relevant....

That's what right wing hosts do. Say there's 10 points about a candidate 7 are positive and 3 are negative. A host on the left will list all 10 points. Good and bad. The host on the right will ONLY mention the 3 negative, and hammer it in beyond belief.

Scotto had Mayor Dean Mazzarella on this morning but would not ask him the tough question why he is listed as a supporter of gubernatorial candidate Kerry Healey on her campaign website as Mazzarella attempt to derail Deval Patrick.

Same old nasty politics from - different day. But who would have guessed 25 years ago that WRKO would become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party.

Miller isn't a reporter or journalist, he's an entertainer. He isn't obligated to do anything other than rant and rave and get ratings, to keep people tuned in for the ads.

If you don't like what he says, join the 98.9% of the rest of Boston's radio audience and tune him out.

Don't quote Jeff Katz's numbers for SAM's.

This really is vile. The worst sort of grabass inane garbage from someone who should know better. Your boss, the man who sold you out and vanquished you from talk radio backed candidates, shilled for candidates and you have the audacity to call out a talk show host for the same. You should be ashamed of yourself Paul.

Are you really trying to hold a talk show host to "unbiased journalism" standards? It's entertainment radio, not journalism.

I've heard Jerry Williams, and Scott Allen Miller is no Jerry Williams. Jerry called them as he saw them. The Healey campaign appears to have energized a grand total of one person in this state, and that would be Scott Allen Miller. Healey was a nobody picked by Romney to balance the ticket against a female opponent, Shannon O'Brien. She spent four years doing whatever it is lieutenant governors do to little notice. She had one debate and got trounced.

Most reasonable people would agree her campaign is either hopeless or more optimistically just at a low ebb. Most reasonable talk show hosts would reflect that reality back to their audience. But reality has left the building at RKO. It's okay for Miller to support her. It's not okay to shill so shamelessly for someone that reality gets shown the door and we're left with wall to wall Deval bashing, even if all they've got are the most picayune issues, such as his voting record for periods he was not even present in the state.

Jerry would have made his case better than that. Advocacy is more than just taking a side - it is also supporting your side with facts. When you take a side but omit any facts in support, you open yourself up to charges that your support is really grounded in the nefarious (yes, racism). That’s exactly what’s happened this week.

The problem is WRKO today is not entertaining, Jerry Williams was.

RKO racist?

Oh, heavens to Betsy, can such a thing be?

At least Miller didn't refer to Patrick as a monkey or a Franklin Park Zoo escapee--that would be his tasteful next door neighbors at work.

Yes, as Jerry always said,' you have to entertain them first '.

You have him confused with a fish which everyone knows rots from the head...
If this poster is not mistaken, which he never is, old JW made Nixon's "Enemy List" which is enough of a badge of honor for a life time.

Paaa-leeeez! Deval Patrick is about as black as Bryant Gumble. He wouldn't know Franklin Park if a monkey escaped and bit him on the arse.

I think it is very funny that the Dem's have already played the race card in this 'race'. Now it'll be much less effective when they play it again in November at crunch time (which is too bad becasue I'm no Muffy fan).

Give me a break - Tom Reilly started the anti-black code words:"Soft on Crime" which Muffy Healey is now using in her commercials as well as attacking Deval Patrick for being wealthy enough to build his own family compound in the Berkshires. When the White-Irish Kennedy's were able to do that it was that they were fulfulliing the American Dream. As a white guy I see this as a racial double standard.

"Soft on Crime" is an anti-black code word? Sound more like a anti-permissive-on-crime code word to me, or did the blacks corner the market on crime when I wasn't looking ::)

That's what it should be but it is used in the same way Louise Day Hicks used the phrase in the late 60's when she ran for mayor of Boston during the busing crisis, "You know where I stand." Yeah, she was a racist Irish Catholic bigot from South Boston. And she lost!

"NIXON'S THE ONE"

The full story of Jerry Williams and the Nixon Administration and WBZ Radio under Westinghouse in 1968 is as follows:

Jerry Williams had the number one talk show in Boston on WBZ Radio from 8 PM -12Midnight. During the Nixon v. McGovern campaign of 1968 Jerry took a call from a returning Vietnam Veteran who recounted in vivid and tearful detail what a bombed out Vietnam village looked like. He said there weren't even any "bugs left" choking back tears. That very night or soon there after Senator George McGovern appeared on Jerry's show and he requested a copy of the tape which he later played on a campaign stop in Ohio. Immediately thereafter, the Nixon henchmen called Westinghouse Corporate to try to silence Jerry Williams and WBZ Radio AM 1030 ordered Jerry Williams to never play that tape again on WBZ Radio.
When Jerry's contract was up the next year even though he was still number one in his time slot and there was no close second, the suits at WBZ Radio AM 1030 refused to renegotiate Jerry Willams contract. In effect, Westinghouse and WBZ Radio AM 1030 caved in to the Nixon administration. In reality, that was far worse than simply making Nixon's enemy list. As Jerry would say for the rest of his life even though it put his radio career in turmoil, it was a badge of honor that he would wear to be considered an ememy of Richard Mihous Nixon.
So, "Nixon's The One" who got Jerry Williams fired from WBZ Radio AM 1030 under the Westinghouse ownership.

Actually, you are mistaken.

The full list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_list_of_Nixon_political_opponents

The shorter, more famous (or infamous) list, which Daniel Schorr read on the air, cold, without knowing his name was on the list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon's_Enemies_List
