John Hancock had Keith Larson visit his show last week to discuss the death of Robert D. Raiford. But I don't think they will bring him back. Larson now has a podcast and I believe a show on AM-730.
But I am still curious about the sudden departure of Scott Fitzgerald. Was there a problematic incident that resulted in his departure, or were the ratings not good? I actually liked is show and thought he had a congenial, appealing style that was somewhat middle of the road in terms of politics. And he was always topical in terms of current events, interviewing local newsmakers and national ABC correspondents.
As for Vince Coakley, is this a temporary move, or do they plan to bring him back permanently? It is ironic he was previously released from WBT by the previous owners, only to be brought back again by Entercom. He is intelligent and articulate, but I still think his show becomes a bit boring and lacks the entertainment value of Limbaugh, Hannity, or Neal Boortz. Afterall, it is show business, as the late Robert D. Raiford used to say. As of now, I think Vince Coakley still originates from Entercom Upstate station WORD-106.3. Unless they move him back to Charlotte. I did like Coakley as a news anchor on WSOC-TV Channel 9, but I don't guess he wants to return to TV.
Also, apparently the 9am hour has brought former Mayor and Governor Pat McCrory back to WBT, with a current events show moderated by morning anchor Bo Thompson. I enjoy this show, and I always liked McCrory as Mayor of Charlotte. He had a good, moderate and centrist approach to politics at that time, but unfortunately overreacting to Jennifer Roberts and HB2 cost him the governor's job in Raleigh. Although I do agree with him the bathroom bill was over reaching and problematic, and there should have been a better compromise solution. But not trying to restart that debate, just nice to hear him on WBT.
