late to the party, but I'm not understanding why there is a backlash against krwm for playing "current" music. If you look at KRWM's playlist for the last month and compare it to two of the top AC stations in the country, WLTW New York and KODA Houston, they're playing the same stuff. There's even an argument to be made that Warm is MORE conservative than these other two stations. You have to get to KRWM's 28th most played song to find something that neither WLTW or KODA play...and that's a gold (Matt Nathanson - Come On Get Higher). The only record in comparing the three that looked a little out of place for KRWM was Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth - See You Again.
KRWM is 9% current...9%! out of 94 AC stations reporting to Mediabase, Warm is #78 for percentage of currents. they're 77% GOLD. So stop with the "what's warm doing, their music is changing" crap. you obviously know nothing.
By the way, the majority of Warm's target demo were teenagers or young adults in the 1990's/2000's. So it makes sense that their average song year is 2002.
the only argument that I think can be made about KRWM's playlist is that their library is too small. with 275 unique titles, they are spinning the same records WAY too many times, especially when they are that gold heavy. the beauty of the AC format is that you can spin a LOT of gold. Yes you should only play the songs that test well, but imho it's better to play a song testing 40 out of 50 in your gold category a handful of times rather than playing your #1 testing gold record like it's a current.
