I think that misses the point. With the exception of the Longhorn Network, all of these need national carriage in order to justify their existence. It's not gravy, it's essential to the survival of these networks. Even the Longhorn Network is barely visible in much of the state of Texas. It just hasn't worked and it's going to cost ESPN a lot of money. The SEC, Pac 12, Big 10 and even the Big 12 have significant followings nationwide. They need to tap into all of that in order to get enough eyeballs to watch enough sports to justify a 24/7 channel. So far, only the Big 10 has had much success with that.
