See ya to the numbers

After waiting for six months for the triumphant return of the "market legend," Sam Malone went down in virtually every demo in morning drive. I can't wait to see how this is spun! If the golden boy was supposed to be huge, then when is it going to happen? My guess is "Kickback" Charles and "Patsy" Scott will be gone second quarter 06. See ya!

Did I miss something?
Did new numbers come out since he took over at MIX just over a month ago?
I'll admit I don't know much, but I'm going to assume that it's too early to tell.

First trend came out today. If he was the superstar CC was counting on, he should have had a huge "honeymoon" first trend. I'll bet you any amount of money he will continue to plunge!

ratings are usually a month or more behind so with Sam's start on MIX, there was not enough time for it to reflect in the trend...the NEXT one will be the true one.

That's what I figured.
Even if they were right on time, they would only include 2 weeks of Sam anyway.

Trends are not monthlies. Trends are 12 week rolling averages. The one that appeared today covers the 12 weeks up to October 19, I believe...

The trend covered more Sam than Roula and Ryan. The folks at CC have been telling clients that Sam is to Houston what Howard Stern is to NYC. If Howard was off for six months and returned, you would see a huge spike in numbers. (Regardless if he was only on for 17 days out of the month.) The fact is, they are so fullofshit over there it is ridiculous. Like I say Cinabum, I'll lay good money that fat old tired loser will tank!

If the 17 days were the last 17 days of the month, that means that he was on for only 8 or 9 days of the trend, which covers 84 days in total. To increase the daypart by 0.1, the show would have had to increase by 1.2 share points in the final week!

Again, a trend is not a calendar month. A trend is 12 consectutive weeks. The part of the trend that was in October was only the 1st through the 19th.

Re: I'm not Lisa... er, I'm not Ken

> Thanks Ken, but you are wrong.

My name is not Ken. Who's Ken?

And in this case, I am not wrong, either. there is no way from the last trend you can tell if a show, which was on the air 8 or 9 days of that trend, is doing well or not. Most shows take months to settle in. The #1 morning show in California took over a year to build to that point, for example.

Have you bothered to check David Eduardo's website? He is who he says he is. Another thing, David is a pro and knows exactly what he is talking about and can back it up with facts.
This reminds me when KAOS1972 accused me of working for Clear Channel without bothering to check my profile. After he was called out on that one, he went back and deleted his erroneous posts. Check your facts before you make a post. It's clear when reading over your previous posts, that you simply do not like Sam Malone. Thats okay. There is nothing wrong with not liking someone. Therefore, your posts are not objective, but rather, subjective, based on emotion. Emotion, in your case is disdain for Malone and perhaps other seasoned radio veterans in this market. I state that, because of your negative references to those in this business who you deem as "old."

Re: I'm not Lisa... er, I'm not Ken

David, seriously, just give up on this one. There's nothing you could say that could put any intelligence or reason into dabomb's head. I mean there are times I am full of crap too, but at least i am open to reason and fact... this person.... is not.

Re: I'm not Lisa...

My name is Julie. Lisa left you years ago. My eyes are not blue...

ALSO...how 'bout those KBME numbers?!?!?!

Folks...this isn't a "sports" town. Never has been. Never will be. Even if the Astros win a World Series, this will not be a "sports" town. Even if the Texans win a Super Bowl, this will not be a "sports" town. The Rockets have done very well in the past. The Aeros have done very well in the past. The Comets have done very well in the past. BUT...this is not a "sports" town.

Name one sports station with top 10 numbers, anywhere.

The spin is easy and I don;t have to be a CC employee to do it. This period ended with only 3 days of Sam on KHMX. If the numbers tanked it is all R&R. Try again.

maybe we can all take turns being Ken. and Roula too.

By the way, the trend was for 9/22 to 10/19 and Sam's first day was 10/17 according to my trusty Hooters calender. Now I failed math in college but that equates to 2 days to me. If the trend sucked I guess we can blame Roula and Ryan. So good job guys.

Hahaha. You put it in perspective. HAve a good thanksgiving!

No, it was not.

Actually, the trend started on July 28, and ended 10/19. Arbitrends are 12 weeks, not 4.
