Please get to the punchline then, so I can laugh. I read the post and found it non-humorous, too. I thought you were guessing that David was Ken Charles. Afterall, Ken is the pd of the station which we are discussing.

No a book is three months. (Hence a quarterly). The actual first month of the fall trend phase 1 began oct ist. R&R were pulled off the air oct 12th. Go to arbitron to find out more. Next month when Sam tanks again, what will be the excuse then?

A trend is a 12 week rolling average. One out of every three trends is processed as a book. The sample size in a trend is the same as a book, withthe only differences being 1) there is no cross-book weighting, and, 2) there are fewer tables.

A trend covers 12 weeks. A book covers 12 weeks.

The Phase I Fall trend covers the survey (NOT CALENDAR) months of August, September and October. The Phase II Fall trend will be September, October and November. The book will be Spet 23 to Dec 15, or October, November and December.

The Fall phase I period (which is 1/3 of the trend data) started on september 22 and ran through the 19th of October. they call it "October" as it is the closest match to a calendar month. Arbitron does not use calendar months nor does it use calendar weeks.

R&R were off the air for only 7 days of the trend's total of 84 days. there is no way to read anything from the change, and there will not be for at least 90 days if not more.

Get over it. You are wrong.

In every case, a trend is 12 weeks, covering roughly 3 months.

David, your OVERALL explanation was very complete. Way to break it down. I don't think we're dealing with some in radio, and if we are, it's not someone who has been in a position to review ratings data, use Maximizer, PD Advantage, etc etc etc... Anyone looking at this information (jocks, producers, programmers, etc etc etc- based on market size) would know the information you are stating as fact.

But, the world needs bimbos too.

Do the extraps and you'll see it was a crappy trend for Sambo. You obviously are in radio if you refer to women as bimbos. (Must have a tiny pecker)

The extraps still cover 4 entire weeks. And they are far less reliable than a full trend, as the sample size is so small... and, did I say, it is unweighted?

No morning sho gets immediate traction. When the change there was contemplated, they probably considered that it would take a year for the new show to exceed the numbers of the old one.

The biggest morning show I am involved with took well over a year to achieve its objectives, and started out with far less audience than the show it replaced... something that was not ¨fixed¨ for about 6 months, in fact, our objective was to get back to that level in 18 months... because we know that talent bassed shows talke a long time to develop a following.

Please, give up.

He is making a reference to Sam saying, "See ya," when he signs off. However, if you are not a listener of Sam, then you wouldn't know about it.
