Seeing more changes

What is happening to 60s on 6? The DJ'S only talk 3 times an hour. I think they are phasing them out. till they fire everyone. Beatles on the top of the hour are gone. Friday sonic sound salute is gone. I am cancelling my XM service as soon as Phlash Phelps and Terry Young are gone completly I do not want to pay a monthly fee for an I-pod

If you don't like the changes (and many don't), PLEASE contact Jon Zellner the VP of Programming. [email protected] only complaints directed to those who make a difference will have any effect- I hope! The cutback in playlists are unreal- many think they are listening to terrestrial radio, ohh wait, thats what they are trying to make sat radio become. Sad indeed. :-\

Lets don't forget the sweet 16 music machine and the top 6 count down every hour. They're both gone. I think the 70s channel is the best decade channel now. So why do they have to chop up AT40 when they play it?

Just leave America Left alone. Of course they probably won't.

I Wrote to Mel and cussed him out. i thanked him for not having free online listening anymore. and for ruining 60s on 6. and said I was cancelling everything effective 2/1/2009. then i called him an idiot and told him to go to clear channel where he belongs.

Okay Cahokia, I'm sure that got his attention. NOT! We do better if we present our case in a respectful, logical manner. Calling a person an idiot rarely wins them over. Oh, I'm sorry; you are probably still a teenager. A more mature person would know better.

sometimes, teenagers are more mature than grown-ups - i just think that Cahokia's WHOLE approach was TOTALLY wrong and TOTALLY negative - yes, Sirius/XM has changed; yes, they have upset the listeners by letting go of air personalities who were part and parcel of the whole radio thing (Bobby Jay from SoulTown 53 being one example) - BUT...i do agree with your statement, FRR, where you say that we do better by presenting our case logically and respectfully, instead of negatively and nasty...

The Sixties on Six has been totally destroyed. It's great if you like the last 5 years of the sixties decade and the first two of the seventies.

I do agree that the 60's channel has gone downhill. I don't miss the personalities so much as I miss the Top Six on Six, and the Here and There program that they used to pay on the weekends. It appears that playlist has grown smaller, but yet the Fifties channel seems to be better to my ears. It is a shame that we can never get an executive to explain why they make the changes they do. I think they probably don't really care what we think, but that is no different than radio PD's have ever been, right? Not a criticism of PD's, just a fact.

 I can't even listen to the 80's channel no more because all I hear is the same songs over and over again. If I hear Every breath you take again I am going to scream. This is why I was dead set against the merger. I knew we would end up getting the cruddy Big 80's version of the 80's channel. At first we did not but once I saw the year at the end of all the songs I knew it was the chopped up repeative Big 80's branded as 80's on 8. I been listen more of .977 80's channel more online.

Fans of "The Big 80's" are complaining too since there are a lot of major hits that aren't being played on the new merged channel. Yes, you read right... the new merged channel is playing LESS than even The Big 80's was. I can't wait to see the latest subscriber numbers when they come out.

What you inherited with the merger is an 80's channel that resembles an MTV video playlist evolved around the former 80's MTV VJ's themselves. I have no problem with the VJ's....it's the whole MTV scenerio. It 's like the whole 80's was based on MTV itself. I guarantee whether you like it or not...you won't hear "Islands In the Stream" or "Were In This Love Together", "Sausalito Summernights" etc just the Go Go's , Depeche Mode, OMD, or any artist that wore make -up and had an alternative leaning musical sound. And went hand in hand on the video like Devo themselves. This is what it's sounding like.
Yes the 60's is starting to go to hell. Pat Clarke is missed with his weekend specials, and the Joel Whitburn references and IT will be the blast from the past. Just the researched crap.
The 70's are hanging by a thread...yes the jocks are much better then what we had on XM, and the sound is much livelier..... but the playlist is just barely going the route of the 60's and the 80's. The 90's ....there's no difference...it was always a clear channel playlist. And once they get rid of Kasey Kasem....I'm outta hear. Pod cast and Internet streaming will be the better alternative. There's ways around you Mel.
