Sensible Don on WLW ????

Jry,

WLW is known to use fake callers on its shows so they must be doing it for the fun of it and not for the money. Does CC/WLW consider them to be employees? It would be funny if they did start calling your station as it would be the end of most callers that WLW allows on.

If Sensible Don thought CC was going to be fine with him going on a show hosted by a man who a) blasted the company upon leaving and b) is currently representing another former employee in a lawsuit against them, then he ain't that damned sensible.

I wonder if President Obama needs a bus driver for the next leg of his "Magfical Misery" tour? Don should fit right in. Black President, black bus, black driver, Maxine Waters would be exstatic! Maybe 1160 could sell "rolling remotes" with Don commenting while driving! Oh...wait...Don is a conservative. He'd have to ride in the BACK of the bus! Beep-beep! :D

Whatever, WLW is a shell of itself now anyway.
And yet, people are still listening - WLW is up in the current trend, and yet no one said a thing about it when the trends came out. But you can bet when they are down a trend it's a multi-page thread here and Kiesewetter crows about it like it's the biggest thing to hit the wire. And as we all know trends mean jack squat. Show me a book, then we'll talk. Arbitron is all a game and a sham anyways.

WLW isn't being picky, they are protecting their station - and you would do the same thing if you were in that situation.

Call me a WLW apologist if you want, but I call it like I see it. Burbank isn't going to come back through that door. Neither is Trumpy, Collinsworth, McConnell, Powel Crosley, or anyone else formerly affiliated with the station. Get over it already, people.

Oh wait, this is Cincinnati. Never mind.

The whole idea of "ringers" just slays me. Growing up in major market radio, this kind of thing was unheard of, back in the day.
Grounds for dismissal.
We had shows with regular callers but, they were fans with real questions, not a script. WJR still has "Ken from Livonia".
He is a regular guy that has a knack for getting on Rush, etc. In no way is Ken a ringer for WJR.

Matt,

You left out one thing, Those guys were entertaining, and they did not rely on callers who use a script in order to have a popular show. The station may still be #1 but it is based on their heritage and the local sports teams they carry. I know those guys aren't coming back but what they have on today is pretty bad in comparison. The dumbing down of radio continues thanks to corporate America trying to make a buck. If you're happy with that then that's fine.

Making a profit is what corporations are in business to do. To make that profit, successful companies provide the content their customers desire. The key demograpic wants toilet jokes and sexual humor, WLW's 3 to 6PM programming is right on target for the "dumbed down" key demographic male generation who are in the car driving home from work.

The satellite channels are maximizing revenues with worthless programming based solely on crude behavior and sex, but few complain about it.

Besides, terrestrial broadcasting will be gone soon anyway.

Yep, This what's next..

Radio’s newest DJ isn’t human.

Artificial intelligence has moved from science fiction to reality during the past several years, and now a Texas radio station is reportedly ready to put it to work. San Antonio Community Radio will use a computer-generated personality on its urban KROV-branded HD2 channel. Developed by Guile 3D Studio, the $200 program is called Denise.

If you're referring to Howard Stern or Opie & Anthony, you've obviously never listened. Jerry Springer was on O&A last week and they had a pretty decent debate over our current tax system.

Hey microbob: I once spent $200 on someone named Denise but there was nothing artificial about her! As for Stern, take away his favorite line "show me your tits" and there goes about 40-percent of his show. Glad you enjoy him but I can't say that I ever have.

Tank

LOL... As for Stern He's toned it down somewhat since He has a hot wife now. The show has changed from the days of the E show on TV.

The above poster is right.
He is a retired Metro bus driver who called so often that they invited him in and Darrell sort of befriended him.
