What kind of Spanish format will they do? I understand it is just on the central market core signal, not the rest.
NGEN is going to purely digital delivery, that is, online/streaming/apps, and has been promoting the change. All three “full power” (not translator) stations currently running NGEN have already received new calls in advance of the format flip, reflecting the “Vida Unida” branding.

The difference with Houston is the change has been more recent than SA.
And in San Antonio, only about 17% of Hispanics are "Spanish Dominant" per Nielsen. Many have not known any Spanish beyond a restaurant menu for multiple generations.

In Houston, the figure is around 50% Spanish dominant, with another large percentage being bilingual (which Nielsen counts as "English Dominant". The Houston "bilinguals" are generally second generation.

The Hispanic heritage in San Antonio goes back three centuries, and celebreated its third centennial three years ago. Houston did not even exist back then.
