SF Morning ratings?

I have the ratings up on my laptop right now. San Jose is the 35th largest market in the country (1.5 million people) and they list their own ratings. (seperate from the rest of bay area)
RP is correct about T-Man doubling the numbers:

Summer 2006 KYLD 6-10am, 18-34 persons- 4.4 share (last numbers before T-Man)
Spring 2007 KYLD 6-10am, 18-34 persons- 7.6 share
Summer 2007 KYLD 6-10am, 18-34 persons- 8.0 share (2nd place, KSOL in 1st)

These numbers can't be overlooked. (especially for a guy who broadcasts out of Seattle. Do people think he's in the Bay?)
Never mind, let me focus on watching the Red Sox blow this game 7 lead (3-2 6th inning) (yes this chick loves baseball and hates the Red Sox)

But the SF ratings include every diary from the SJ book... San Jose is an embeded market, as is Santa Rosa, meaning that the diaries are part of the SF market, but also issued as a separate report

Hardly any agency uses the SJ book as the SJ numbers are duplicated in the SF book. SJ has about 30% of the market's population, and about 32% of the diaries.

This is true, and the San Jose market accounts generally for just over 1/3 of the diaries. We'll have to see how the people meter allocations go geographically. It has given the SiliconValley an inordinate amount of sway over the San Francisco market, IMHO.

SJ has 30% of the 12+, and about 32% of the diaries. They need a few more in SJ to be able to issue a separate market report, but they are weighted down proporionally for the SF book. I think we may not have a separate book for SJ for long, as it has very few subscribers.

STN,

Any idea what KYLDs AM drive numbers look like in the Bay Area? I cant imagine theyre nearly as good. Oh, and how'd that baseball game work out for your? Go Sox, bring on the Rockies!

;)

Can you also break down the numbers in Fremont? Or maybe Napa if you have time.. Thanks!!

Neither Napa nor Fremont have a big enough sample to do a reliable break, although one could produce it in Maximiser. San Jose, on the other hand, is a real, rated, embedded market.

I find this thread humorous. The question is who wins SF, that is the big prize. That includes many outlying counties and towns, but the big picture is who wins SF. The rest of the discussion is pointless.

We were discussing this t-man issue in our class at Berkeley today. The consensus was that if he's already beating everyone after one year in San Jose he will ultimately beat all the other shows in the rest of the Bay area. We'll know soon enough.
My roomate and I are big t-man show fans. Keep rilin' 'em up T-MAN!!

"Sell the numbers" are you ever going to post the bay area numbers?? Or is San Jose the only good ones you have?

Bingo!

He's trending down a bit, which is not that bad of a thing at this point in his Bay Area career, it just means that is just what his numbers are. Don't look for continued improvement.

And he is much more popular with the 12-24 crowd than the 18-34, which is not good, espcially for the CC sales people.

No reason to believe he will jump KMEL or KITS anytime soon from the numbers in the most recent book, but no reason to believe he will not be right around top 5 in his demo book after book.
