Sherman Baldwin beating feet back to Berkshires?

I heard from inside the WROW building that Sherman Baldwin is going back to the Berkshires fulltime. Apparently he's not happy with doing mornings in Pittsfield and afternoons in Albany along with many promises that have gone unfulfilled at WROW! More ch-ch-ch-ch-changes as Mr. Bowie would say!

No great loss. Did you see his letter to the editor in the TU, he thinks that is job is to "hug" people and make people love each other. Hint, that would be why a 50 something year old guy is working in Pittsfield and looked at Albany as a big break.

On the other hand, Jimmyboy MOE-rel lied to the guy? Naw! Flush yo mouth! LOL!

At the beginning of his Wednesday afternoon show, Baldwin proclaimed "We're #2 in drivetime!" - I nearly drove off the road! So I guess with the measly rating WROW eked out, Baldwin is carrying the entire station on his back! (Advertisers take notice!)

Or, could that be ANOTHER ABC/Pamal L.I.E. - I just looked at the ratings for JAMZ - the watered down "black music for white suburbanites" station at the lowest point ever since Sugar Bear was fired for his programming talents. By the way, consultants had told ABC/Pamal that if they kept Bear as PD, JAMZ would have been in the top 3 in the market WITHIN SIX MONTHS - that's how good the man was at presenting AUTHENTIC hip-hop and r-and-b!

Oddly enough, JAMZ continues to proclaim "We're #1 for hip-hop and r-and-b" --- maybe Baldwin should announce on WROW "We're #2 in hip-hop and r-and-b," which would be closer to the truth than the #2 drivetime claim!

So why can't they make amends with SuagrBear and bring him back. If this is true, this could be disasterious for JAMZ, possible format change..And they are not a true Hip Hop/R&B station. Go to the city, listen to 'BLS, for example. And take notice of the true Hip Hop/R&B stations in the country. Jamz is a joke...Another example, a true Hip Hop/R&B station would never play *Pink*, imo...

Little dude, forget that the number 1 talker is 7 places and more than 6 points ahead of you, Chartock eats their lunch, and there are 13 formats ahead of you... you're not even crumb on the table cloth!. Where do you rate on iTunes for example? Your Number 2 is more like number 20, and in a medium that caters to diary holders who die mid-book of natural causes due to age. Also, care to elaborate on how you increased your numbers by "25%", since Jimmy Boy MOE-rel will not spring for the ARB subscription how do you know? Are you "quoting" numbers? Tisk Tisk, the boys in Maryland will want a word with you and Jimmy MOE-rel will throw you under the wheels.

Or are you talking about the totally meaningless M-Su 12+ number, which can swing a half point down (your entire station's 25%) with a single AM listener Coding at Albany Med or a half point up when a nurse leaves a radio on for a patient in a vegitative state hopiing for some response.

Pittsfield?! You're 49 and you've gotten as far as Pittsfield? Whoopie at that? Dude, get a job and feed your family.

The ratings bump that WROW received demonstrates remarkable progress, all reflecting a very positive public response to recent programming changes at the station. Management's decision to drop the harsh tone personified by "empty- 1" in favor of friendlier and fun talk are already paying huge dividends, and soon hopefully even "empty -1's" bile filled mouth will fall silent as the positive vibe and irresistible good nature of you and your WROW crew continue to gain market share.

Thanks Johnny, I hope that they do. I've been told that Jimmyboy MOE-rel is dragging his feet in entering a contract with Arbitron. Yet somehow after each book the building is awash in Tapscan print-outs filled with the daypart & demographic results.

If they are using those numbers on the streets then the boys from Arbitron are going to want to have a word or two with Jimmyboy and his wallet. In any case I am also sure that they would like to have a word with whichever of their clients is providing those numbers. If true you could see all 6 Pamal Albany stations (and their "helper") delisted from a book or two. Translation for the non-broadcasters here (Pamal management) that means your rating for that book is "0.0"

I for one think that Sherman brings a very good product to the air. When I'm not working I enjoy his show at home or while driving around. I think he does an excellent job and when I tune in it's hard for me to believe that I'm listening to a station that Pamal owns because Sherman is something of quality and intelligence.

Hey Sherman: one way to put to rest all those comments about you being "small" and from the Berkshires is to mention how you made your money with that movie you produced. One of my favorites by the way.

Thanks MT3. It's easy for anyone to expect that the handles MT1, MT2, and MT3 may be somehow related...

If one person is making all the Let's Diss ABC And ABC Only posts, then that person has personal problems and is using us to spread their venom. If that person is a ex-exployee, it's easy to see why they would be fired; poor attitude with nothing to nice to say.

I don't read this board much anymore because of the constant WROW bashing. Believe Me, there are plenty more things in local radio to bash, or to commend.

Like..did anyone see the story about the New AM station being planned at 670 on dial? WVVT. Yeah, it's being planned in part by a Spanish programmer, Alfredo Alonzo and Charles Hecht.

But there aren't any decent newspeople here to mention it.

With the exception of the vitriol from the likes of MT1 and Johnny 45 - thanks for all the nice comments. Yes, MT3 - Thanks for bringing that up. I was the producer of a film that is near and dear to me - The Crow starring the late Brandon Lee. It brought in $400 million world wide. I have 2 scripts in Hollywood now as well.

Let's just see how it plays out, but in any case, Empty-1, I hope you find some measure of success where you are now, so that you can move on with your life and find some happiness.
