There are two or three directions it could go. Rock, Urban or Country would the the usual suspects.

If it were me I would program the station with a Sports format and give Citadel another heart attack.

Welcome back!

How about an indie artist country station? Triple A with better haircuts.

True Oldies?

A locally-programmed Classic Top 40 would be nice. Not rock-based, since that's too close to WIMZ formatically. A station that plays the hits and isn't afraid to inject some personality and fun. I'm thinking along the lines of 105.7 The Hog.

I'm sick of turning on The Hog and hearing Daughtry. I can no longer listen to them for my classic hits fix because they continually disappoint.

I do think The Hog is one of the area's best stations. Just needs a little tweaking. Add a Knoxville simulcast (107.3 is basically unused), lose Daughtry and anything from '91 and up, dump the "classic rock" since we already have that and focus on 60s/70s classic hits and add some 80s back in for flavor. Oh, yeah, dump the silly news on the hour & 1/2 hour. I can get news anytime I want from my phone.

Also, on a side not, could anyone tell me why Daughtry and Nickelback are so popular? They both sound as if they are trying too hard to be rock singers. Soooooo much better music out there!

Is mini-me still in time out?

Thank you! That's all I'm asking from these guys. They have moments of brilliance and then they start playing Hootie & the Blowfish! It's so aggravating because they have the potential to really fill a need in this area and they aren't even paying attention. I'm in Knoxville, but they throw a perfect static-free signal in my area even without a 107.3 simulcast, which they did have back when they were WLSQ. They actually showed up in the Knoxville ratings back then too.

Hilarious line Boogiecheck --- yet, if you're brain ain't connected, do you know you have a heart attack?

Same here. WIGH is 50 miles away and just 2400 watts. But they're also 1,000 feet HAAT. So basically, if you have a clear shot to the west, you'll hear 'The Hog' pretty well. Given the local topography, this description applies to quite a bit of the Knoxville metro.

Thank you, and that's the problem. They wouldn't understand what was happening until after they had packed up their UT shakers and bobbleheads.

A sports station in Knoxville without the UT contract stands no chance. See the four stations that have tried it previously and failed, and the station that's currently trying to do it and failing. I'm not even counting afternoons on 100.3 in that.

The Vol Network will have those under contract to them (head coaches, etc.) decline to do interviews with those shows. See: coaches not appearing on 100.3. I'd be shocked if Hamilton goes on there again.

If Hamilton or coaches don't go on 100.3 how are they going to get their message out? UT athletic department does not give two hoots about the VOL Network except for the monthly checks.

Yeah Dooley, screw that six figure Adidas endorsement check. WNOX says your message won't get out unless you pee all over 107.7, 98.7, and the 99's.

BillBattle: Is fiveahead grounded or something? He hasn't been out to play in a few days.

By going on the shows on their Flagship station 990/99.1/99.3 as they always have.

I thought the flag ship station was WIVK as it has been for the past twenty years. The stations you mention just simuilcast.

Bill: You've found a way to cut fiveahead out of the loop, haven't you?

Citadel refers to both stations as the Flagship in their promos, as does the Vol Network in their publications.

Everyone seems to overlook WIVK, it spite of all the drama, they are still the only act in town that is close to being full service, now that 100.3 is independent once again, the frog might start doing some of the things on air that helped make them #1. There's nothing wrong with news and topical information on a music station, especially a country station.

There can be only one flagship station on a network. The one and only WIVK.

Ahhh... semantics! At least when your two buddies tried to swing a sledge hammer they'd occasionally hit each other Three Stooges style!
