Shockingly, Sean Demery helms "The New Morning X"

>More proof of the complete ignorance of radio the average poster on this board posesses? You >think a new jock or team takes 2 WEEKS to get up to speed?

Actually, what I said was 'find the knobs' in reference to someone's post on shaky execution Monday morning. I would of thought in that time someone would be able to figure which button turned what on. I stand corrected, and my ignorance is now overcome with knowledge. Thankyew, thankyew.

Here's some more knowledge for you...it's "should have" not "should of."

Well that was productive. After reading this board for a year now I can finally say I've learned something. And that 'something' would be that people can extremely petty and small when cloaked in anonymity. The X show is a stumbling, bumbling mess right now. Is is that hard to run that board Sean-O?

With the exception of sitting in on occasion with Live 105's midday person, Sean has not been behind a mic or operating a board for almost 6 years. I'd give him a week or two to get back into a rhythm. Just in the first couple days though there have been some really good glimpses of how good this show can be. Sean seems to be much more at ease and is giving off a vibe that feels like he has a sense of appreciation for the place he is in now. I'm looking forward to watching this show gel and develop over the upcoming months.

Years ago, my parents owned some apartments. They had a deadbeat tenant in one of them. Well, dad followed the letter of the law, and when the time came asked me if I wanted any of the guy's stuff. Well, I did -- I borrowed a friend's truck and took some of the guy's furniture, got a nice fisherman's sweater, some good silk ties, and of course his clock radio. It's a crappy clock radio with poor reception, but to this day I'm using it.

Problem with it is that here in Roswell, the only FM station I can get without too much distortion is 99x. So since I moved here, that's what I've woken to. It's sometimes been good, sometimes not. Yesterday, I got out of the shower and walked into the bedroom and heard a bunch of weird sounds. Then someone announced it was Chewbacca singing the Beatles. Wow, love that wacky radio stuff! Oh man, I couldn't stop laughing. So I have a great idea for the new morning show, and I'm offering it up here: how about having a radio reporter interview the shark from Jaws and playing snippets of songs as his answers? Would that not be hilarious?

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed Costco had some decent-looking Sony clock radios for $20. I probably will stop by this weekend and pick one up.

Merlin sez:

Be careful, you might be ignorant of the time required for the polish to begin to shone. -:)

Three words: Bring Back Barron!!! Okay, maybe a few more.

Sean's alright. So is Leslie. I have friends who've said good things about the new guy too. But is this really a new show? Sounds like something to hold the fort down till the end of the year, then they'll announce another "NEW" show. Back during that Don Miller fiasco, they should've just renamed it the Jimmy Barron Show and have gone from there. I always thought he was the pulse of that show.

No disrespect to Jimmy Baron, but it was time to go. He lost his relevance at 99X awhile back, after a respectable run. I'm sure there's a place in radio for Jimmy Baron, but not 99X.

Tough business as it is but when you hit your 40's and lose touch because you're a golf playing, cigar smoking, arrogant, rich man w/o a real discernible, compelling on air personality...stick a fork in the non-pork eater.

I have to say I love the New Morning X Zoo Crew. They are so Zany! And their use of Simpsons sound effects are wonderfully gratuitous. If Creative Loafing has an award for wacky this year the Bert show better look out cause now they have some stiff competition

Being 40, playing golf, having money and being arrogant certainly hasn't hurt about a thousand other successful radio personalities. It's about being interesting and/or funny and, even though you yourself may not like him, Jimmy has proven himself in the business. But I don't think he (like Leslie) was out of touch with the "99X demo" so much as he was out of touch with the "Toucher demo", which was clearly young and immature. Doesn't it seem JB would fit in better with what they're doing now instead of the new "Jimmy-lite"? I imagine he'll be back on somewhere here eventually, though. He's still got to be one of the most recognized names in Atlanta radio.

No doubt that his name has some equity, but it was time for change.

99X needed it desparetly - and probably need more of a shake up.
Jimmy Baron needed a change, whether he or you realized it.

Will the new show be the answer? No idea - but I'm confident that it will get 99X positive attention, rather than reframing another Jimmy Baron AM show.

Maybe Jimmy should go to Dave and duke it out with 99X over a 2 share.

I couldn't agree more.
